Hello barcampers!
I wanted to give this list a heads up that there's a team putting
together the first LA CleanWeb Hackathon for June 1-3. Green Business
BASE CAMP, New Economy Campaigns (my little firm) and CALinnovates.org
are partnering with CleanWeb hackathon HQ:
http://cleanwebhack.com/hackathon/
CleanWeb is a strong lever entrepreneurs have for addressing the
challenges of global resource constraints. The movement promotes the
application of information technology to build scalable and disruptive
solutions to solve issues related to climate, energy, water, food,
transportation, and land use.
The series of hackathons started in NYC and Boulder, and is expanding
around the country to encourage entrepreneurs, developers and
creatives to employ mobile and social web technologies along with
freely available tools, datasets and APIs to build apps in less than
thirty-six hours. Maybe some of you caught Sunil Paul's recent talk
at SXSW on the topic?
http://sunilpaul.posterous.com/
Hackers pay $40 to participate, and investors and others can come to
observe on Sunday for $50.
Please let me know if you might be interested in sponsoring (lowest
levels of sponsorship start at $500) and I'll let the list know when
registration is up...
Best
Catherine
