Late September 2009 was when the second annual Barcamp was held.
Between the two events, an average of 50 people can be expected to
attended. This year, considering my involvement, I am hoping to gather
a larger audience to meet and share their interests. Both events were
free of charge, food and drinks were the only costs. The venues were
largely donated for the day. Sadly since the 2009 event, the original
BarcampKC website was lost. Below are links to pictures and the wiki
to give you an idea of what Barcamp has been.

I am searching for a co-organizer to plan the event with me. The
paragraphs below is a brief description on what is Barcamp and its
expectations. Please contact me if you are interested.

**What is Barcamp**
Barcamp is a chaotic, energetic event born from the desire for people
to share and learn in an open environment. The event is completely
participant-driven and facilitated. The conference is classified as an
[unconference](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconference).
Participants are expected to come with an idea for a session that they
lead. They can also contribute to a conversation. The rule of Barcamp
is simple, "Share your Passion."

The general rule for organizing a Barcamp is less organization the
better. Ownership of Barcamp does not belong to a sole owner or group,
but it does take a central planner or catalysis to move it forward.
Ownership should be distributed as much as possible.

This year will be my second year pulling for another Barcamp. It will
be the third annual Barcamp in Kansas City (that I know of). The two
main things we need is a venue and a date. The page linked below is a
great primer on organizing a Barcamp.
