Hi Akash:

Barcamp Delhi summer edition is 'great news' !

If there is one thing that we could do better (and perhaps start now) is spread the news among geeks and 'more importantly' students asap ! it would be nice to have more people show up.

There is a lot happening in 200km radius of central delhi. There are so many colleges, institutes, gov organizations (which use so much of software) and off course the companies. Guess we need to reach out to them - by email, posting on facebook groups and pages. All the geeks who graduated from the colleges around should be able to motivate the juniors and get them over to barcamp delhi.

As to the talks we could do a CFP (call for papers) and then organize them into three  tracks as

. intro level and popular (students and just starting off professionals)

. entrepreneurial (startup pitches with their gangs)

. in depth and internals talks

We could start a bit early by 0930 hrs (though you'd know the NCR saturday dynamics better) and we can keep the lunch at 1245 hrs. so that lets us have 4 sessions per track.

We plan the rooms ahead in time, so that we have rooms to fill and not  rooms to schedule. If the audience knows that we have a total of 4 rooms (ie. 2 on ground floor and 2 on first floor) and their locations, we can set them up better ie. if there are two demos happening then they are across floors. Consequently curious people even get to peek into the non-demo talks as well.

If we are planning to have a party in the evening, then lets plan the venue in advance as well ;-) this way we get to network better after the feedback session (which is an important session in my humble opinion).

just my thoughts.

warm regards

Indeed. We don't have the date finalized yet. We're aiming for last weekend of May or mid June, should give us ample time to get the word out.

Thats always done, Barcamps are like that only, community powered. Once the talk submissions are open anyone can sign up & add their talks to any of the available slots which are given on a first come first served basis.

That would be a tad bit difficult per our experience. People usually turn up around 1030 even when we start at 1000 hours.

Not sure how you got the idea that we end up having rooms to schedule. They're always fixed in advance since specific area is allotted where we can hold Barcamp! :)

cheers

Amit, appreciate you taking out time to reply to my queries:

as far as the dates are concerned:

Last weekend of May is Sat, May 31
weekend of mid June is Sat, June 14.

just curious, what needs to get done, before one of the dates is finalized ?

warm regards
Saifi.
