This question might sound silly. Still...

When I was job-searching, a lot of interviewers asked me what I had worked on. I told them that I was involved in the development of a code-generator that would generate code for you in either Java or .Net. And then they asked me, "Code generator in which domain?"

The first time I heard this, I said, "What?"

"Which domain? You must have worked in some domain or vertical?!!"

I, after some time with a blank look on my face, "Sorry.... I don't know..."

Seriously, do code-generators have domains?

Thanks everyone for your replies!! My comments below...

>>Not necessarily. Which company was this?
Sorry Sameer, I can't tell you that... Don't want to get into any problems... Jerry's right though...

>>I bet this was asked in one of those large MNC type companies ;-)
Amazing Jerry!! Spot on!!

>>Hope you didn't end up taking the offer
I did... This might shock you and sound crazy... I don't know if you guys would believe this, but at that point of time, I was new to this entire job search thing... It was in fact the first job search I did and everybody from my parents to next-door neighbours to friends was telling me to join those Big MNC Cos. I thought, since everybody's telling so, they must be right... and when the guy asked this question, it did weigh in my mind, but his other questions were pretty decent, and hence I went ahead...

You might be wondering how this could be my first job search... well, I got my first job via a campus placement. It was the very first interview for me and I liked the work that I would be doing there... so first interview quickly became first job...!! There wasn't much of a job search the first time... Of course, their pay wasn't good, but the work was!! It was because the pay wasn't good that everyone around me urged me to go for the Big MNCs.

Probably the dude (or dudette), did a selective filtering of keywords they

"Which domain ?" is a de-facto question for a HR, but ideally should've been
the 1st question, but ok...

Prashant and other's have already given a good answer as to what the domain
is (case-A).
