Hi all,

Here my suggestion of sponsors level that we should use for the next
Barcamp Cameroon.

Waiting your comments

--------------------------------------------

Level 1 Sponsor – 300 000 FCFA minimum

Their logo will get top billing on our website and we’ll feature their
company on the back of our promotional t-shirt!

Level 2 Sponsor – 150 000 FCFA

We will display and link their logo on our site and list their company
name on the back of our promotional t-shirt!

Supporter of BarCamp Cameroon – Any Amount Helps!

We will display their name and link on our Sponsors page! …and until
December 31st, they can get their name on the back of the BarCamp
Cameroon t-shirt!

Additional Sponsorship Opportunities

We’re adding in additional ways for Sponsors to help make BarCamp
Cameroon 2 even sweeter than the first!

Coffee for Community! ~ 350 000 FCFA (tbd based on final attendee
count)

In addition to Level 1 Sponsorship status, we’ll give their business
props all day long at the Coffee Table.

Breakfast For Barcampers ~ 400 000 FCFA (tbd based on final attendee
count)

We’ll feature their company alongside delicious AM treats. with Level
1 Sponsorship status.

Supplies – By Donation

We’re looking for sponsors to help us get the following supplies we
will need:
Name Badges
Lanyards/Badge Holders
Printing for event flyers
…and more!

Donated supplies can have their company branding if desired, and
they’ll receive a shout-out on our Sponsors page with a link to their
website.

we got to add to official sponsor offer and this sponsoring offer should be some sort of long term contract which we could lay down with the proposing company, for like 2 years of exclusive sponsorship and his has sum which he has put down , that way we are sure at every future barcamp we will have atleast the major sponsor always showing up like MTN with the Cameroon Football league....

For that you need to have an association wich is not our case and this
is not really the concept of the Barcamp where everyone can start his
own, like if someone whant to do a Barcamp Ndole in January for example !

I think it would be good to define time slots for sponsor talks. My
opinion is that sponsors took to much space at the first edition,
their talks were too long (there should be just one speaker per
sponsor). Am I the only one to think it isn't in line with the "non-
conference" approach?

Disclaimer: sponsors are great, they should be thanked we need more of
them...

Agree wholeheartedly with you Alex.

Sponsors monopolised the morning way too much.

Perhaps we shouldn't give them a time slot as such, just ask them to have their guys present interesting topics etc.

We originally stated that sponsors wouldn't have allocated time slots... but I think we sold out a bit to make sure the event would happen.

What about the idea of having a few keynote, pre planned speakers with the rest being workshops in the style of the afternoon.

I realise this is getting a bit off-topic but maybe we can continue talking about the program in a different thread.

I would love to see a more open collaborative barcamp for the next one - I felt that we were all really catching on to the idea by the end.

Really there was a lot of marketing talk being done by sponsores like
Ringo and MyMoney at last edition of BarCamp Cameroon. Lets focus on
getting more keynotes related to the Theme for that event than
offering much time for sponsors to do advertisment.

What MyMoney did, “Introducing Mobile Money in Cameroon” was
marketing talk that took almost an hour if I can remember. Rather
sponsors should be given about 5 minutes at most to introduce their
company at the beginning of the event if they need to do that a
special sponsores slot for about 30 minutes could be inserted in the
program.

Something like what Ringo did was good (although they almost took more
that an hour when given time to talk); sponsors should prepare
something like a 5 minute presentation and get a stand outside to
demonstrate their products and services to participants who are
interested in them. So we could propose that to them in addition of
getting their logo on the T-shirts, websites, banners etc.

hahaha....its would have been more instrestings if we had diffrent halls rather than a big central , then there everyone could have equal oppurts.... anyhow , you should know that not sponsors will be confortable with the 5 mins talk.

I suggest adding a 15 mn timeslot in the opening session for the top five sponsors, I think it's on topic

15 min timeslot for 5 top sponsores that means 3 mins each. 5 min each
totaling 30min for 6 sponsores could be fine.

OK, I was suggesting 15 mn for each 4 top sponsors, I think they should have some time to speak a little but the total "sponsor" session should be 1 hour max.

Of course someone from a sponsor can also make a keynote if it's relevant and not about a commercial offering but rather an interesting technical topic.

I think it's good, at the same time it's difficult to judge without knowing the global budget.

By the way, it would be a good idea to post the first edition's budget breakdown.

VLP will aim for Level 1 sponsor anyway

it's based on the budget of the first edition and my estimate for the
Yaounde 2010 edition , what is important is to agree on the
sponsorship package.

I'm trying to upload the budget template ( having some connection
issue... )

What I mean is that the interest of the package is relative to the number of sponsors, so it's good for sponsors to know if there will be 10 or 20 sponsors on the t-shirt, for instance.

Also, it's good for the sponsor to know the value of its contribution.

Good Morning,

I was wondering if there is a file already done to give to companies
going-to-be sponsors
If yes can I get it, I'm a volunteer to distribute it to going-to-be-

I don't think we have produced anything like this, but this kind of content should be added to the wiki - once we agree on the structure for sponsors etc.

Though I'm a +1 for the structure proposed by Jean-Francis.
