I don't usually reach out like this...but we just had a sponsor flake and decided, rather than replacing a big sponsor with another big sponsor, we'd replace it BarCamp style with a bunch of smaller sponsors!

Here is the deal:

There are 700 people signed up to BarCampBlock already. That gets expensive! We have the days covered (meals, schwag, venues, supplies, wifi, etc.), which is costing us about $12,500. ($17.85/person for the entire weekend ain't bad!).

The current list of sponsors are here: http://barcamp.org/BarCampBlockSponsors - there is a great outpouring of support thus far!

The max donation is $300

We need 16 sponsors (approx) to cover a party that will cost us $5000 (including food and 2 drink tickets per person)

Some cool stuff:

It is being streamed around the world (Ustream)
Wired is covering it
There is a documentary being done to capture the retrospective (where have we come in 2 years? a long way!)
It's still entirely free for everyone
There is a DemoCamp ( http://barcamp.org/BarCampBlockDemos) where you can 'launch' or demo something cool
There will be loads of talented people there if you are looking for employees
Your donation means that our Saturday night party will still happen, which makes the tech community happy, and they will relate that happiness to you!

So...if you have an extra $300 kicking around and want to support these cool events to continue to happen, put yourself down on the wiki and email me back with how you want to pay.

Thanks so much.

Tara
