First off...thank you thank you thank you! Your stepping forward generously is what keeps BarCamp a smooth moving and free event for everyone. That is super significant!
The Process
- If you have offered a cash donation, the maximum amount is $300. I will be sending you a Blinksale invoice* from Citizen Agency for $300 (or the amount you specified) that you can either pay via PayPal or check on or before Friday, August 17th. Cash will go towards, t-shirts, snacks, coffee, office supplies, meals, etc.
[the reason we are sending it from Citizen Agency is that we are footing the bill...all cash collected and spent will be documented openly on the wiki and any overage will be voted on as to how to donate it at BarCamp]
- If you have offered to cover a meal, we ask that you help us out even further by arranging it. There is no limit to what you spend, but BarCampers have simple lunching needs (pizza, sandwiches, etc.). Google is sponsoring the lunch on Saturday. We are estimating 100 people at this time. The address of delivery is 655 High St., Palo Alto.
[if numbers change in the meantime, we will let you know]
- Any other donations in kind, we will talk directly. For example, Yahoo is donating signage, essential to our 'block party' structure. I'll definitely be coordinating with donations in kind directly.
Please also not that we require your sponsorship to be paid in full pre-BarCampBlock (either via paypal or bringing a check to the event in the morning). Thanks for understanding as we are all volunteers putting this event together.
Ways to get the most out of your sponsorship:
- If you haven't already, add yourselves to the BarCamp wiki as
sponsors: http://barcamp.org/
BarCampBlock
Sponsors
- Even more important than $$ is your attendance. Having representatives from your company at BarCamp is the best way to get the biggest 'bang' for your donated bucks!
- We don't put big signage up, etc. for
sponsors, but feel free to bring schwag to strategically drop about, a pocket full of business cards and sign up to present a session. We've received feedback from attendees who end up loving those
sponsors who get involved and are part of the event...and forgetting those companies who just slap up a sign as a branding exercise.
- We will be mentioning
sponsors in announcements and blogposts, but the focus of the event is on the attendees. Feel free to blog about your support and we will link to your post!
-
Any media angles? You may want to nudge PR and tell them how your company is helping out grassroots movements like BarCamp through your support.
Any other questions, I'm your point person. My name is Tara Hunt. Y'all rock!
