Hey Jeremiah,

I have an idea for your client UStream. We need streaming video for BarCamp. UStream streams. There are nearly 500 people signed up to participate over the weekend in person. Countless others (probably over 100) have asked about being able to watch.

Why don't you get a crew down there and become the media sponsors for BCBlock?

LAN line: there will be lines in the various locations, but it's spread out over a couple of blocks. We can try to coordinate with the BarCampBlock spaces on getting you on their networks.

I would think that the opening, Saturday, would be the biggest, but the more in-depth, heartfelt conversations happen towards the end.

The 'speakers' probably won't use microphones. I don't know if you know how a BarCamp works, but there aren't really 'speakers' per se as there are presentations and discussion leaders.

Thanks for the intro Jeremiah.

Tara, couple questions:

Could someone there provide is solid internet connectivity (ie a LAN line)?

Which of the days (Sat or Sun) are the bigger?

Will speakers use microphones?

Thanks!

Can you make this weekend's barcamp in Palo Alto?  It'll be a great opportunity.

I'll try to stream too.

Tara, thanks for coming to us, I agree this is a great opportunity.

RE: promotion. OF COURSE! We'll be trying to get the whole world to watch!

If you can teach the BarCampers to stream easily (maybe as an early session at BCB), that would be awesome.

If Ustream can get this organized and coordinated, can you promote the ustream channel?  BTW it's also very easy for the bar campers to stream too.  So maybe having a single page with some of the ustream channels embedded may be a nice feature for the global attendees.

Yahoo! oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links.

Hi Brad,

We will have great wireless connectivity in the Socialtext offices and
the patio in between, and I think will also be connected through
Mekari's free network they're setting up to cover those few blocks. In
the Socialtext offices you can also get onto our network by plugging
into our routers; it should be no problem.

At IDEO and other spaces, I'll have to get more information for you.
Right now I would guess that IDEO (the biggest space, with a large room
that can hold around 70 people easily) will be able to get you good
access as well. In the smaller offices, you may need to rely on wifi.

I should send you the sponsor email. We don't allow banners or the like as all of our patrons are community members (Google is buying lunch for 500 people and they aren't even allowed a banner).

But I would set up in either IDEO or at the SocialText main.

Liz/Tara,

I will personally be attending to stream these events.

My only concern on shared wifi is stream quality when other people are online during the event.  I'd also like to probably stay in one location because of setup, etc.  Is there a particular room/office that would make sense for that?

Also, can we get a banner promoting the podcamp stream designed by someone there (527x226)?  Our designer is out until next week.

Heh. Yeah. Brad told me. :) I need to get out of my 'defense' mode!

Chris will get you this by tomorrow.

Our goal is to have a banner that we can run on our site (Ustream.TV) to promote Barcamp to our viewers.
