Hi all,

So... I've been talking to a few people over the past few weeks, and
it looks like eDemocracyCamp is actually going to happen:

eDemocracyCamp
March 1-2, 2008
Washington DC

There are 30 days left between now and the event, and a lot of things
still need to be done. We're working hard to pull it off.

Here's how you can help (please do):

1. Get the word out.
2. Connect us with someone active in the field (e.g. a person or
organization in the political, government, non-profit, or web/tech
sector who has a thing or two to say and share around e-democracy).
3. Volunteer (core team needs 2-3 more people).
4. Recruit a sponsor (for venue, cash, or in-kind donations).
5. Sign up and participate.

You can point people to the following online resources for more info
and RSVP:

* http://barcamp.org/eDemocracyCamp
* http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/297865/
* http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=6660332063
* http://twitter.com/edemocracycamp
* http://groups.google.com/group/edemocracycamp/

There are currently 40+ people signed up (both on the wiki and
Facebook), and we'd certainly like to grow that number to appropriate
barcamp size. ;-)

Any questions, let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Look forward to seeing some of you in March.

Tim

PS: Here's the link to the previous thread (apparently, Groups
deactivates the "reply" option after so many days):

Hi,

RootsCampDC (http://dc.rootscamp.org/index.php/Main_Page) was
scheduled for the same weekend as eDemocracyCamp, but has been moved
out to April 12-13, 2008 (due to the fact that the race for the
Democratic presidential nomination remains so close).

We were already working closely with the RootsCampDC organizers to
make sure we capture the obvious synergies between our two events.
We're glad this scheduling conflict is out of the way, and look
forward to welcoming many RootsCampers at our event.

Tim

PS: We're at 70+ sign-ups and have raised the first few
sponsorships. :-)

Hi,

A quick update:

We have one nice venue on hold, and another (even better?) venue
offered. Working hard to wrap this part up over the weekend. Thanks
for your patience, everybody! ;-)

Also, please note the schedule update:

Kick-off get-together is now Saturday, March 1 at 8pm (was Friday,
February 29).
Sessions will run on Sunday, March 2 from about 9am to 5pm.

Meanwhile, we have reached 100+ sign-ups. Looks like things are
shaping up nicely!

Tim
