I'm looking for help and attendees for BarCampTokyo.
http://barcamp.org/BarCampTokyo
I've chosen the end of January to give us enough time to gather a few
sponsors and get the word out. I'm speaking with a few places for
locations already so I'd appreciate it if you would contact me ahead of
time before committing to a location.
Anyway, I'm new to this (as we all were just a few months ago) so will
read up and take any/all advice.
Thanks,
Gen Kanai
Welcome! How exciting -- I had hoped to see a BarCamp reach Japan
earlier as part of BarCampEarth, but perhaps I was premature in my
nudging.
I'd recommend that you contact the folks from Asoboo, with whom I've
previously spoken, as they might have some ideas.
You might also contact Adriaan Tijsseling (developer of blog editor
Ecto) as he's in Japan.

Good luck!

Chris,
Nice to be welcomed :) I think we met last year at the "Colors of Web
2.0" party. You had a goatee then?
Unfortunately, Japan isn't a culture where BarCamp would take off
organically as it has in so many other locations. I'm not a
born-and-raised-in-Japan Japanese person, so if we had waited for that
to happen, it might have taken even longer.
Needless to say, I'm pulling in a bunch of folks including Adriaan,
Joi and many others. We'll see what happens.
Chris
