Dear all,

I'm giving a session at Barcamp Transparency tomorrow, and I've just
realised that I have another engagement on Sunday morning and I'll only
be able to come to Barcamp in the afternoon and give a session.

The difficultly I now have is, how do I reserve a slot on the programme,
given that it's formed by people writing in their session details onto
wallchart, first thing in the morning ? Or perhaps I should say, can I
reserve a slot without actually being at the morning session?

Would one of you act as a proxy and reserve a slot on the chart for me?
A half hour, or an hour, at the end of the day would be great. Probably
something at 4 pm would be best, if possible. Can anyone help?

Here's what I've written on the Wiki about my session: 'Challenging
routine police surveillance using the law: my personal experience.
Andrew Wood (see http://www.judicialreview.org.uk)'. Actually, I think
this title might be better: 'Upholding the law and asserting our rights
to privacy (or, how the police broke the law and I took them to court
and won)'. Either of those could be written on the wallchart.

(Sorry about that. Totally my fault.)

Best wishes,

Andrew

Well done I think transparency camp went really well, everyone did such a great job and deserves a tremendous pat on the back.  Thank you for providing such a great event.  The event provided me with the motivation and effort to get this OSR Pilot effort together.

I am greatly looking forward to meeting next Sunday afternoon in Oxford to organize the OSR Pilot, and to further discuss transparency camp,  if anyone has any ideas on a good location to meet pls let me know?

I have just finished writing a full description of the OSR pilot which can be found here, (http://identitytrustcic.org/cctv/?page_id=2please read this description of what OSR Pilot is all about and let me know what you think and if this a good extension of what barcamp transparency is all about. If so maybe we can use this mailing list to continue to discuss and organize this event?

The reason I am so motivated is that  I believe that the OSR Pilot will has the chance to change national policy around control of personal information, through aggressive use of reputation for privacy.

The Aug 23 event is the research which will indicated whether this belief is true.  It is my hope that this activity will actually reduce CCTV systems in Hammersmith  & Fulham, and provide enough bad media that Hammersmith & Fulham will reverse their decision on CCTV camera's before the Information Commissioner has the chance to make them do so.   In fact, with the hopes that this event could change national policy I believe it will open a new discourse about the control and use of identity in surveillance and identity management, directly impacting the implementation of ID-Cards.

Best Regards
- Mark

PS.  I left my mac power cable and power extension attached to the projector, Marcus were you able to pick this up?

Hello peeps,

This is a general invite for help organising this VPI CCTV: Trust & Access OSR Pilot  and research initiative.  (shorter title needed)

I am very happy you are able to show up for a couple of hours to help organise this event, or even participate remotely (from canada) I think its a really big deal.  Thanks to Manda suggestion we can meet at the Great Turf Tavern in Oxford, I will aim to be there for around, 1pm.   If you know of more people that may be interested in organizing this event (especially a card carrying journalist) please invite them on Sunday or pass me their details so I can invite them.

I have updated the website  advertising the event as well I have talked with treasurehunt a CCTV mapping game organisation, hopefully they will organise a CCTV game on the day of. .  Pls read and provide critical feedback and suggestions if you are so inclined.

There are a couple of things I am hoping to get progress on Sunday:
- Discussion about Strategic Organisation for the day of the event
- Some Word Press Fixes
- Journalism: Writing this up to invite different audiences and to send to European News Agencies a Press Release - Translation Required
- Links to orgs/ppl that may be interested.
- Help creating/brainstorming the channels of funding for the research part of the event - E.G. Donation box on word press, Paypal Integration,
- Graphic Designer for a CCTV Trust Seal and Sign, (which am contemplating selling to produce income for those who want to earn some)
- An Outmap update and feedback conversation
- Social Media Advertising Strategy:
- General discussion around the ethics and dangers of the event: Health & Safety
- The opportunity to buy a round of drinks

Looking forward to hear what people think,

Mark

Dear all,

As I predicted last week at the Barcamp, I'm unfortunately going to be
unable to attend tomorrow. My kitchen is currently all over the living
room and I have a time limit to get it back in the right place again
...

However, regarding the OutMap portion of this, I intend to have
everything up and running to allow people to tweet pictures and
locations of the CCTV cameras on the day and have them aggregated in
an intelligent way. I'm also thinking about how best to get email
working with photos & locations, so that people can simply use MMS.

Apologies again; I'm certainly up for any subsequent meetings,
including travelling into London etc.

Ben
