[barcampsaigon] Privacy issues with our public Google group

Hi everyone,

Just so you are all aware, this group is public. That means anyone
can view it.

If you don't want everyone to have your email or phone number then you
don't need to post it here. We will organize other lists when we need
to share private contact information about each other.

Furthermore, please do not share other people's private contact
information with anybody else without their permission! :)

Can we remove moderation for posting in our group?
I think this can make the group seem to be less active.

Actually, moderation is not removed -- and it shouldn't be because of spam.

But there's a simple solutoin.

The moderators just need to automatically accept immediate posting for certain members.

The first time that a member posts, it should be moderated, but  Tomo and other moderators should switch the moderation flag of that member so that subsequent posts get immediately accepted.

I think our group currently appears to work in your suggestion way.
"Comment author must have a previously approved comment" (copy from
Wordpress :)

Cong, that is correct. The group is moderated, but anyone who has
already been allowed to post will be able to post without their
message being held for moderation.

Unfortunately, I don't see any way to be notified of a message being
stuck in moderation so I and other mods will have to check
periodically. If anyone sees their message stuck for a few days,
please contact me directly.

Hi Frie,
I posted about "red envelop" to make group a little more friendly and
help people to show up :)
so yes, it's not necessary in term of information. My apology for
getting you spammed.

About sub mailing list for sponsor team, we actually do send email
internally.
However, I don't know a way to make discussion publicly while
collaborating with other teams effectively, without using the same
group.
I think members can join into as many teams as they want to, at
anytime convenience for both.
Sponsor Team and other groups (like Supplier Team) also need to work
with each other closely
Personally, I sometime have fun to read and learn how other teams
work, we are one big team anyway :)

So, to help you less spammed, you can consider using "Digested email"
feature under Edit my membership.
Or you can skip any email that from [Sponsor Team]
or you can create a Gmail Filter that filter out any message have
string "[Sponsor Team]" in its title.
I'm glad to help you about digested email or create an effective Gmail
Filter.

I don't know why I'm so concern about privacy in our group, 

especially with Master file, which includes many private contacts and is currently public.

I've just received an email ask for survey contacts in Master file.

Master file is stopped sharing publicly, you can email Hoang or me for adding company information into the list, and also gain access to it.

I hope everything still convenient for members, just add a little bit carefulness ^^
