Then you might want to consider volunteering at Transfer Summit next week.
On June 24-25 Keble College hosts TransferSummit/UK [1], a forum for
business executives and members of the academic community to discuss
challenges and opportunities for the use and development of Open Source
technology.
TransferSummit speakers include key representatives from the open source
businesses and software foundations, including Red Hat, Sourcesense,
Sirius, WSO2, Indiginox, Day, HP, Amazon, Gnome, Apache, Codeplex,
Mozilla, LiMo, Wikimedia. The event is organized by OSS Watch [2], the
open source advisory service for UK Higher Education, based at Oxford
University Computing Services.
OSS Watch is looking for a small number of volunteers who can help
with the smooth running of the conference. Main tasks include helping
with delegate registration and guidance, and providing technical
assistance during speaker presentations and Q&A sessions. While no
specific qualifications are required, front desk manning, event
organization and laptop set up experience would be an advantage.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to listen to some of the most
influential open source leaders, and engage in informal conversations
with representatives of their future potential employers. Volunteers
will get free conference passes (worth £160), free Gala Dinner tickets
(worth £40), and lunch on the event days. Free accommodation at Keble
College on the 23 and 24 will be provided and travel expenses to Oxford
will be reimbursed.
To apply please email in...@oss-watch.ac.uk stating your affiliation and
interest in the event.
