One of our sponsors asked if we had anything to use to link from their site.

Does anyone fancy creating a button we can make available? We'd need a
logo first.

P.S. We still need sponsors - please consider who you could ask and
pass the prospectus on to them

Does BarcampOxford not have one of the traditional
logo-inside-wiggly-thing
(http://tantek.com/presentations/2006/11/building-blocks/barcamp-logo-final.png,
http://www.markbixby.com/images/site/barcamp-logo.jpg,
http://barcamp.my/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/barcamp300.png)? I
can't find the mug to check.

Anyway, I'm happy to whip up one of those styles of logos if we need it,
and then make a smaller version for linking magic.

Not that I can find. Last year had the Apache logo but no wiggly thing
(what *is* that? A foo fighter?)

That would we great. Thanks

No idea what it actually is. For the moment, it's a hyperspacial
projectile of awesomeness.

I've taken the stencil and come up with two basic logos: One where I
just changed the colours to blue (I feel dark blue is a pretty Oxonian
colour), and one where I've worked the skyline into the bullet thing.
Thoughs?

Lovely jubbly

I vote for 1. Its not quite as bold or as integral as 2 but I like the
spires customisation - it makes it more 'ours'.

The "Oxonian" colours are only really for ox.ac.uk - the football team
is yellow and Brookes is read.

I'd rather go for the TransferSummit colours if people don't object
http://transfersummit.com/. Perhaps leave the swirly thihg (love the
skyline) in the blue we are using on the TS site and make the words orange.

I agree re: skyline - that's smashing. Nice one, Andrew. (Isn't the
BarCamp logo with the three lines meant to be some sort of kick-ass
manta ray, only: a kick-ass manta ray ON FIRE?)

Are we OK re: the licence on the core logo, modifying it so much?
They'd need to be under a modifications-allowed CC licence or
something. Either that or drop someone at Sekrit BarCamp Central High
Command a quick email. I'd provide more useful suggestions but
barcamp.org's search is currently down. Again.

I've attached a version with orange for the text and blue for the manta
ray of awesome - matches the TransferSummit site colours reasonably, I'd
say.

And, J-P, the logo is under a *deep breath*

through, it looks to be fine for our purposes.

That really works for me. The grey seems darker to me and the little
colorXtractor FFx add-on I'm testing for someone says it's different.

Oh, I didn't pick straight from the site, I picked the
closest/best-looking matches from a colour palette - it's a lot easier
to get a nice set of colours that way.

Ah, OK - it looks darker to me but what do others think?

I think it's fabby, and hopefully I'm not rocking the boat too much if I
mention the word "bikeshed".

Close enough for me - thanks. I'm all for this one, but given the
TransferSummit is only a sister event I will not insist on this logo
over the others.

Of course, if it is this logo then there'll be no problem convincing the
web designers to put it on the main site ;-)

As long as we credit the original in the way they specify (whatever that
is).

HeHe.

I just sent a private (as in offlist) mail to Steve pointing out that we
might be getting far too close to literally bikeshedding. So your
rocking my boat, but in a good way ;-)

Matthew, thanks for pointing that out. My intention was to give some
feedback to Andrew for a great contribution, not to ask for a specific
change. That'll teach me to play with new Ffx extensions. The funny
thing was that the word 'bikeshed' went through my mind after asking
what others think.

Keep on rocking.

Andrew: as I was not clear - I love it and think it will make a
fandabbydoozy button as is.

I'd like to propose this version goes on the wiki for use.

+1

Can we also put a scalable version up there. If we do mugs we'll need a
hi res version.

The source is an SVG - I'll upload the SVG as well as several
resolutions of PNG tonight.

The wiki page now has the logo at the top, and five different formats in
the publicity section (one of them being SVG). If anyone wants me to
create absurdly large bitmaps for printing A0-size posters, just say.

I also saw that there's a poster on the page for the last barcamp, and a
redesign is needed; I'm happy to whip one of those up too, if people can
say what we want on it this year (where is it targeted? Noticeboards?
Distribution? These probably affect the content.)
