Hi

It would be great, if all of us here can put our details on Wiki, also
encourage interested folks to do that.

Thanks

Hi,

Could not get which page we should put our details on? this one " http://groups.google.com/groups/profile?myprofile " (many of us already edited their profiles)

or on the main page "http://barcamp.org/BarCampKanpur " itself ?

Thanks

I found two good links:

http://intertwingly.net/slides/2004/etcon/43.html/
/http://intertwingly.net/slides/2004/etcon/44.html
http://intertwingly.net/slides/2004/etcon/45.html

quick-reply (never mind typos and confusion):

We can use the google-group to announce and discuss various things
related to BarCampKanpur.

Wiki is where, we should be collaborating for upcoming event. Things
like meeting notes, plans, task list, participants/volunteer list,
topics, venue details, conclusions out of discussions, etc should be on
Wiki. Anyone can edit and his/her two cents. Post event, we update the
Wiki page with more details (reports, reviews, photographs, etc). A lot
of things can be reused later in next event...

jfyi! I have seen all kind of stuff being discussed on mailing-list
(google-group), you can look at groups for BarCampBangalore and
BarCampPune. I am on most of the barcamp* groups(mailing-lists) in
India, even though I am not physically in those cities. If I plan to
participate in any of the events, I would update the wiki - which not
helps organizers but also for other reasons.

Participants don't have to join mailing-list to participate in the
event, they just need to put details (name, email, blog, sessions or
interested in any topics, if any) on Wiki. One can join the mailing-list
to keep updated and in touch with other like minded folks.

It's lot easier to look at Wiki page to know the details of page, who is
giving session, who is coming, etc - instead of digging in mailing-list
messages and coming up with conclusions (which is hard to do).

Does that make sense? Sorry, just wrote it quickly, I am sure someone
else can explain in better way.

BTW! I hardly use Google Group's web-interface, I am mostly using my
IMAP client to deal with messages.

Thanks
