Hi

I just had a quick chat with someone within IITK, he mentioned a list of
issues, as listed here:-

1) Getting participants in kanpur would be very tough
2) Expect all the people other than the organising ones to be beginners
3) IIT is a bit inaccessible in the sense that whoever comes should get
an entry etc etc
4) even in iitk wifi needs an institute login

I agree and disagree with some of the points above.

Abhishek has been helping us with Venue, as confirmed in previous
emails, he has talked with SIIC folks and they have agreed to host the
event. I am sure, they would also take care of entry in campus.

WIFI, I guess, that's something we are yet to confirm?

Getting folks to participate is hard, but we can get people from various
colleges, companies around. It's not important to have a lot of people,
success would be in the quality of event.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Hi all,

Sorry for not replying quickly, I was stuck up with something.
We won't have any problems with the venue as we can have BarCamp as an
official event supported by E-cell and hence directly supported by the
Students Gymkhana. I will get all the permissions, so venue shouldn't be a
problem.

We can decide some time, when we can meet up and discuss and finalise
other issues as well.

Hi

Dhiresh is the Coordy of E-Cell at IITK and he will take care of these things.

It is true that wifi login will need insti login, but for one evening, some common login (like that of siic) can be used by all outside participants.

Entry is absolutely not an issue if you are coming to attend an official event.

@Dhiresh, you could always speak to Sudha Ma'am (cc'ed on this mail) and Dr. Phani (head, SIIC) if any official permission etc are needed. Please have a word with them before this meeting.

Btw, most iitk students have no clue about barcamp (or anything remotely related to it), so just ignore them. You don't need the same attendance as that of a discotheque!

cheers!
Abhishek.

Great, let's meet on Sunday (Sept 6th) and talk about details.

I am very excited that we are getting started and warming up for the event.

Guys, you have more experience in organizing events, those happen in
IITK, which is going to help us a lot.

Thanks
