Volunteer Meeting 6

As per discussed earlier during the Volunteer Meeting 5 last week,
today suppose to be our meeting 6. Sorry for late post. Somehow, today
meeting is still on at Cyberport Level 29 at 8pm. Lets us do come
together to brainstorm and help out whatever post / job / work
available as time is drawing very near for our BarcampJB which is next
weekend.
I do urge every volunteers to be very serious this time and take
initiative to freely volunteer of the outstanding work available or
else some you might be assign during the day itself. At the mean time,
tell as many people you know about our event to make this a success
and enjoyable 1st BarcampJB in Cyberport.
Jae might not be able to make it tonight, and if she really do, I will
be chairing the meeting although I'm not good at it. So, see all of

So far 107 people have registered - we need to promote more our aim is 200
We have a lot of people coming from out of JB - KL, Singapore, Selangor,
Subang Jaya, JB, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, selangor, Vietnam, Perak, Syria,
Yemen, Norway, Bangkok, Melaka, Bangkok - please be friendly and show them
around JB
37% of participants will be sleeping over - so air con and security must be
handled and discussed.
When printing t-shirts, please use the following ratios with regards to
sizes:
XXL 8 7%
XL 22 21%
L 40 37%
M 26 24%
S 11 10%
eBay, MOL and Cyberport will provide items for the goodie bag.
Ganesh has donated his used, locked Iphone 3g for us to give away as a
prize. It will be given to the best blogger who blogs about BarCampJB pre
and during the event. Myself, Daniel and one more JB volunteer will select
the winner on Sunday at the close of the event.
Issues which need to be discussed:
I know this has been discussed before but we should come out with a master
and final list of volunteer duties with contact details. Based on what I
gather from the forum this is what we have:
Who will handle registration on the day of the event? We need 4-6 people.
Kelly, Davy, Siddiq have volunteered so far
Who will handle equipment? Raphel Ng & Rob Lee
Who will help with transport: Davy, Cheyanne, Cheryl
Who will handle speaker related issues? Cheryl
Who will pack the goodie bags on Friday night? All of us
Who will arrange chairs on Friday night? All of us
Who will order those chairs? Amanda to decide on based on available quotes
Who will take photos - Cheyanne, Eugene,
Who will handle the food - Amanda and Aisyah
Who will print the t-shirt, tag, stickers, bunting? Jae
Finally someone needs to work out the budget - what are we going to be
spending on.

I think everyone should take photos, doesn't matter who. Tell them to
tag it 'barcampjb' or something along those lines. Makes it easier to
find later!
It would be nice if you could get your photo page (
http://barcamp.my/photo.php ) working so that it pulls straight from
flickr. Something like what we did for foss.my (
http://foss.my/gallery/ ).
Then instantly everyone can see how barcamp jb is coming along, and it
gives a sense that everyone is contributing back, no matter how small
it is.
Another tip is to put a link/widget to people tweeting about barcamp.jb.

Great idea Aizat on both the flickr and twitter.
1) flickr is already done. (auto pull from flickr with tag barcampkl and
barcampjb, will add more tag as we go)
2) will add the widget before the event starts

Oh really? Hmm ok. Either way I think you need to publicize it,
describe it on the page what tags to use.

Actually this should be done asap, people are already talking about barcampjb.
Take photos are your meeting tonight, and tag em!
Its a feedback cycle. Encourage people to contribute back (via flickr
or twitter) and they'll get on the site. With minimal work done :).
Note, i was at the front page, and the image under the 'Photo' image
links to video.php,

photos should be more prominent and above barcampkl.
I'm guessing its an aggregation of all barcamps in malaysia. would it
be possible to see only say 'barcamp kl', ec?
Oh btw, the listing of images is broken.
The logo on the top left should be updated to barcampjb also. The
logo aint even clickable!
Put directions to the venue. On the barcampjb page, under the header
where you have the venue location, make it clickable, to give you the
more detailed instruction about/directions-to the venue.
This is being nit picky, but you're urls are ugly :P
Logo at the bottom of the page should also be clickable.
tbh in terms of branding/quality/usefulness of the website ain't that great.

This is MC, we are going to print buntings and banners for BarCampJB. It
will provides
additional exposures for our beloved sponsors, without them we won't have
BarCampJB.
So for all of you who brought these sponsors in, please help to get
high-resolution logo
from sponsors or else it won't look good on banners. So please please do
whatever that
you can to get that. ANY format is fine as long as it's high-res.
Time is short so please email those logo to me BEFORE 5pm Monday,
1-December-2008.

Sounds good Cheyenne, as there will be several people helping out with registration, you’ll still be able to move around, take photos and transport people if required – but I think this may be unlikely a most participants are gonna be staying near the venue.
