So, I have a tentative room reservation for 2/28 at 6:30pm at the
University of Maryland, College Park. I hope to have the official
confirmation in hand soon. The date might shift if there's a conflict,
but at least we have a host. The ACM chapter at the university is
hosting, at least in the sense of being the people getting the room
reserved.

It seems reasonable to start signing up for time slots :)

Cheers,

This has been confirmed.

I added a section to the wiki page. So far I'm the only one on the list.

Alas, I won't be able to attend since I will be out of town at
another conference. I'll be interested to hear how it goes! And
hopefully I can attend the next one.

I sent messages to these groups letting them know about next week's DemoCamp DC:
* Dorkbot-DC
* Security Geeks MD
* Columbia Area LUG
* DC LinuxChix
* BaltiLUG
* Zope/Python Users Group DC
* AgileMaryland

I'm not sure what used to be at the room link (CSIC 1115), but it's
broken now. It'd be nice if the wiki page mentioned what presentation
equipment is available in that room, as far as computers and/or
projectors as well as network accessibility (e.g., open wifi? open
ethernet ports?).

No information about net access in room 1115...

Well, *now* it's working for me too, so never mind.

Might be nice to notify DCLUG, NoVaLUG, MA-Linux, dc.pm, AMRUG,
NoVaRUG.... (I can get some of those if you send me a copy of the
announcement you sent the others...)

Sure, here's what I sent to the Zope/Python group (I'm sure there's
room for improvement on the wording):

Zope/Python users: You're invited to the DC area's first DemoCamp,
next week, on the evening of Wednesday, February 28th, 2007, in
College Park, Maryland. Details are at http://barcamp.org/DemoCampDC1.

What is it? From the wiki: "We'd like to build an active community
for people in the DC area to show up and informally share geeky stuff.
Do you have a tool, a piece of software, a set of scripts, new toy,
hardware hacks that you want feedback on? Bring it. Show it. Share!
Eventually we'd like to organize a BARCampDC as a weekend-long version
of DemoCampDC1."

Don't forget the Mac user community. Might want to talk with the
Apple Stores, Washington Apple Pi, MacUpgrades in Bethesda, etc.

There will be a projector and sound system available, with VGA and
mini-stereo connectors, and a basic PC (running Windows) available.
There are outlets at every seat and a wireless access point will be
provided.

I've added the above information to the FAQ.

Hello,

I signed up to present, but I am not going to be able to make it after
all, so I freed up the slot I took, if someone else would like to use
it.

Best of luck to the camp,

Chris
