We're organising BarCamp on Wave but seeing as everyone doesn't have
access to Wave I'm just going to regularly summarise activity there
here on the Google Group:
We have ten people who are currently involved in or observing BarCamp
preparation: Pascal, Lauren, Ruth, Rae, Craig, Brenda, Andrew,
Caronne, Rohan and myself.
Pascal is pursuing the venue with our usual contact Bob at the ANU -
we're planning on mid-February using the usual rooms.
The format of the day will be a hybrid traditional BarCamp /
Trampoline event with 20 minute presentations mixed in with 50 minute
collaboration sessions with a 10 minute gap after each so if we end up
running parallel BarCamp / Trampoline tracks then it'll all sync
nicely.
The Trampoline sessions will be more conversational. Someone will
still need to present an idea or problem and seed the discussion but
no need for presentations. Those topics will be put into the day's
program like any other event except they'll run for twice the length
of a BarCamp presentation. We're also hoping to get the Australian
Social Innovation eXchange formally involved in the day to facilitate
these discussions. We also have invited people from academia and
policy think-tanks to come and get involved in these.
For time-keeping, Craig will be purchasing some gongs which we'll use
to enforce the timeslots to keep the day running smoothly.
We've have five sponsors confirmed so far and are still pursuing more.
If you want to sponsor BarCamp then please get in touch with any of
the organisers.
As part of our plan to diversify the scope of BarCamp to encompass
areas of social innovation, sustainability, progressive policy,
entrepreneurship and so on we've been actively promoting BarCamp
outside the local geek community. Several people from interstate have
committed to come down ranging from SEO consultants through policy
writers to people administering some interesting government programs.
And as if that isn't enough to want to make you come, we're also
accumulating a bunch of prizes and giveaways and already have $800
worth of stuff to give away either in draws or through competitions.
The hashtag for the event is #bcc2010 and you can follow us on Twitter
at

We'll have a blog and other info up elsewhere soon and should have the
date confirmed within a week so stay tuned.
If you're flexible for mid-February then perhaps you might want to
RSVP now as 16 people already have:
