Hi all,

I propose those who wish to help organise next year's BarCampCanberra meet next Thursday 12 November 6:00pm at Tongue & Groove in Civic.

I propose that we meet purely to kick off the organisation activity for the event, not for dinner or anything. Maybe a beer. So it shouldn't go for longer than 45 minutes.

No need to RSVP, just turn up if you want to be involved in BarCampCanberra 2010. It will be an open meeting - I shall be advertising this meeting through other channels for anyone else who wants to be involved who hasn't already expressed their interest or haven't been previously involved.

Thanks,

Won't be me, sadly, I'm already double booked for the early evening Thursday week. Some others on this invite are at least single booked to attend things at the same time. You get that.

Cheers, Andrew

All cunning plans except for my Sydney-boundness. But consider me in
on the evil plans.

I'm still out. Between work, WUD, and cocktail party, there is no way.

I finish work at 6:00 p.m. so I might not make until about 6:30 p.m.
to 7:00 p.m.

By the time I turn up it might be over. So not worth me going then,
since I'm relying on buses to get home. So looks like I won't make
it.

Thanks all for coming to the meeting this evening.

Pascal's now writing up some meeting notes which we'll collaboratively
review and edit ... we've decided we're going to give Google Wave a go
with coordinating the organising of BarCampCanberra 2010. If you're
interested in helping organise BarCamp but didn't attend the meeting
today then please send Pascal your Google Wave address to participate
in further discussions.

The date is tentatively set for mid-February pending confirmation of
the venue.

Cheers,

Nat

I'll wait till the other meeting attendees have had a chance to review

OK, two issues.

I only just got invited to GooglweWave today by Google. No one else
invited me. Since it's in Preview not everyone will have invite,
which kind of defeats the purpose of using Google Wave to organise
something.

So, if anyone needs an invite send me your e-mail address (off list)
and I'll invite you.

Secondly, I have no idea who Pascal is or what his e-mail address or
googlewave address is, so here is mine: ken...@googlewave.com . My
e-mail address is similar, just replace googlewave.com with gmail.com
.

Someone invite me to the organisation and I should be able to start
participating.

Hi Anestis,

Point taken - and we certainly considered that using Google Wave may exclude some people from being able to be fully involved in organising BarCamp.

However we also need to take into consideration that the people who are organising this need a collaboration system that facilitates the easy sharing of information and compiling lists etc ... and at the moment Google Wave (as opposed to previous systems we've attempted to deploy for coordinating BarCamp) is meeting that need.

So as far as business requirements go, collaboration capabilities and efficiency take precedence over universal access.

However glad that you now have access to Google Wave and I will add you to the Wave right after sending this email.

Cheers,

Nathanael Boehm
