I suspect some of the reason Google is not listing the BarCampCanberra
blog (and the reason I've have 15 visitors to my own blog in search of
"barcampcanberra podcasts") is because the root is a redirect to the
wiki. I've just submitted the /blog/ directory directly to the Google
crawler list manually, although getting it set-up in Webmaster Tools
if not GA for proper analysis and monitoring would be preferable ...
but hopefully this will fix the problem.

Yep, that could be it :)

So we take the redirect off and put a landing page in?

"Step to the right for the wiki. Step to the left for the blog."

Yeah something like that would work - but not an automated redirect;
either meta or http code 3xx redirect. Google don't like em.

Also I think more liberal use of both spellings "barcampcanberra" and
"barcamp canberra" would be beneficial for SEO.
