Greetings!

I am forwarding this opportunity from the Manager at the Child Life
Department of UCSF Children's Hospital. Please let me know if you
contact them.

Their message to you:

"We would like to network with local theater artists who might be
interested in working with teens to turn journal writing into a
performance. In collaboration with local high schools, UCSF
Children’s Hospital would like to initiate a 100 Journal project
(inspired by 1000 Journals Project; please see www.1000journals.com )
where both medically involved and healthy teens use journals for self-
expression. From that medium, material will be gleaned to develop
performance art in collaboration with San Francisco theater artists.
We hope to receive support from San Francisco Arts Commission for this
project. People can contact me directly at the information below.

In addition, an example of this is already in production (with a
Seattle school) and will be performed at the deYoung Museum theater on
May 1 at 3pm. Information about the performance is at below and folks
should RSVP to Emily Doman at the de Young, edo...@famsf.org or
415-750-3522. Recommended for ages 13 and older. Any one interested is
encouraged to join us for this exciting and innovative performance of
material written by teens at UCSF Children’s Hospital, staged and
performed through the interpretation of healthy teens. Last year was
a huge hit, as we know this year will be as well.

Thank you very much for your help, Michael

UCSF Children's Hospital is proud to present our second annual
performance based on teen experiences with chronic illness and
hospitalization. Tomorrow....A Better Day is a celebration of life and
endurance. This piece shows how creativity and artistic expression
marshal the healing process. Created with support from the Fine Arts
Museums of San Francisco and in collaboration with the Northwest
School (Seattle, WA), this performance piece
highlights courage and fortitude, as well as the universal feeling of
isolation teens often experience while hospitalized.

We invite you to witness this unique performance created and performed
for teens by teens. There will be a question/answer session directly
following the performance to increase awareness of issues such as
diversity and the strength of the human spirit. RSVP to Emily Doman at
the de Young, edo...@famsf.org or 415-750-3522. Recommended for ages
13 and older.

Friday, May 1st at 3:00pm
Please stay for Friday night at the deYoung
