After updating my iPhone to iOS 17.1.1 i've figured out that the blur effect on Home Screen wallpaper isn't working anymore. Even after reboot my phone, changing the picture or turning OFF/ON the blur effect.

On my iphone 12, same ios17.1.1, same problem, this solution did work. Even though, within Settings, after adding blur and clicking done, the Wallpaper selection page still showed it as unblurred. Nonetheless, taking the next step, quitting Settings completely still revealed a blurred wallpaper.

c) Anytime you change your Wallpaper choice (I have about 10 on my phone that I move between depending on my mood) ... for any Wallpapers that use a single image, blur holds Ok ... any wallpapers that use two images lose the blur setting ... even though the customisation screen shows it is in play.... you then need to unset it, quite Settings, go back into settings and re-set it and quit settings again... should stay until you change your Wallpaper.

I can make the background image blurry, but I believe all of you here when you restart your iPhone the wallpaper will no longer be blurred, it's not like iOS 16. I bet this is a bug in iOS 17, I hope Dev fixes this.

Upgraded to IOS 7.1 (Iphone 4). After the upgrade was complete and I changed my wallpaper, I noticed that the system is darkening the top of my wallpapers. I do not like it and want to turn this "feature" off.

I have the same problem on a few of my wallpapers. Out of like 75 or so wallpapers on my phone (ones ive uploaded myself, not apple ones) 2-3 or so of them have this weird darkened area on the top 1/2 of the images. I understand that we cannot disable it, but honestly believe it's a bug that should be fixed. It's so maddening that this only happens on some wallpapers and not all of them, which i guess is a good thing, but it's still annoying. I'd love to know what's causing this? Hope they fix it soon.

Having cool looking backgrounds on my apple devices has always been my favourite thing to do and now it has been taken away. There is not one image that looks great on my iphone now, everything just looks washed out and dark..

I been having the same issue. And unfortunatlely I was told by apple support team that it i a feature of the new iOS. BUT it's a feature we dont want!! So please my friends I urge you all to give negative feedback on this issue and demand that they fix this issue ASAP.

Megaemperor - i'm not calling you a liar, but i am going to say that i don't believe your comment. I believe this is what you were told, BUT i don't believe Apple. A FEATURE is something that happens consistantely all the time or in this case on EVERY wallpaper. From my experieces at least it only happens on like 2-3 of my 77 or so wallpapers. Thus i don't believe it's a feature, but a BUG.

Im going to again have to DISAGREE. This is NOT a feature. I have plenty of custom wallpapers on my phone that are VERY light in color and my phone does not add this stupid darkened portion to the tops of them at all. As stated several times, this 1/3 to 1/2 darkened top portion of the screen ONLY happens on around 2-3 of my 77 or so wallpapers. Of those 77, i have several that are very "light" colored (light grayish to white) and i don't have the problem with them. I still say it's a BUG.

This is the dumbest thing ever, I'm at a loss to describe how dumb it is. I can't turn this off?! Am I assumed to be so stupid that I can't figure out how to choose wallpapers I like on my own **** phone??

I agree with Euphonia. This gradient can't be disable. I did a testing with various bright and dark wallpaper. It basically detects the brightness/darkness level of the wallpaper and adjust the gradient opacity accordingly.

My bad for not checking the update versions (if not I wouldn't have updated it) however I would say this gradient is really an issue. Everytime I am in the homescreen I see the wallpaper, it can't be avoided. Regardless whether its a bug or its a feature, I would still suggest to be either an option to on/off it or just remove it.

just the opposite for me. i have well over 70 wallpapers and every single one of them so far has this stupid shadow effect ruining them all. every day is a rainy day on my iphone. the complete lack of options and customization was pushing me away and this one is an over the top dumb design decision when considering it cant be disabled. hey Apple, how about getting rid of the amature head of design and hiring a pro? i could do better.

in ios 16, branded live wallpapers and special ones for the iphone xs max model have completely disappeared, which is very sad, I hope that Apple developers will return live wallpapers from live photo and exclusive for that model live wallpapersand that I have already tried to put several live photos as wallpaper, but they are just like a static picture and more than one tip from apple care support did not help

Android had live wallpapers ages ago and apple is still unable to crack it. The long press in ios to animate wallpaper concept belongs to the stone age. Bored of seeing the same icons and theme in ios. I might as well switch to android as it offers loads of customization and the phone turns magical and lively. If I'm paying 1000 bucks, I want the phone screen to look how I want it not how apple wants it!

Today, Apple's marketing team announced an upcoming media gathering and we have the Scary Fast event wallpaper to match. Apple analysts argued with each other for months trying to determine if this event would occur and what exactly would be released. Now we have the official invitation in the mail and the possibilities seem more 'treat' than 'trick.'

On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, Apple announced the newest handset, iPhone 15. With new color ways, each device "regular" and "Pro" were advertised with a series of color matching iPhone 15 wallpapers. These marketing backgrounds rarely make their way to the corresponding iOS version, but you can download them here.

It is hard to believe, when looking back, that my iDownloadBlog Wallpapers of the Week is celebrating a 10th anniversary. At least once, every week, for 520 weeks, you've downloaded fresh, crispy wallpapers for your favorite Apple devices. To be honest, I'm a bit shocked by the milestone. This year, we expect several hardware announcements, possibly ranging from new MacBooks to the long awaited Apple AR/VR headset. Until the event happens, everything is simply speculation. Get in the mood with these custom WWDC 23 inspired Memoji and sticker wallpapers!

Earlier this week, Apple officially announced the 2023 Apple Watch Pride Edition band, that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community. Evocative of a perfect summer's day, Florence is inspired by the magic of ancient Chinese wallpapers. Originally hand painted on silk using traditional brushes, techniques and watercolours, its beauty is pure escapism. A fresh, modern take on classic 18th century design, Florence shares a vibrant positivity.

No more mountains! Mojave brought a new system-wide Dark Mode, and the OS shipped with two versions of its default wallpaper to match. Users could even have macOS slowly fade between the two background images over the course of the day.

macOS Catalina brought big changes to the Mac, including the ability to run iPad apps natively, opening the platform up to a much larger number of developers than ever before. Catalina shipped with multiple variants of its default wallpaper, and the ability to shift between them as time progresses throughout the day:

This version of macOS builds on Big Sur, bringing Shortcuts and a range of features that are also part of iOS and iPadOS 15. As of the first beta, Monterey does not include any new nature wallpapers as previous releases has.

I have a photo set as my current iPhone wallpaper, which I would like to save. I have forgotten where I stored this file on my computer originally, so I can't easily go back to place it back on my phone. It has since been deleted from my camera roll.

You cannot export the wallpaper, depending on the pattern (if it were repetitive) it would be possible to take screen shots and after emailing these to your self you could edit in Photoshop (other editing software is available)

One way that may require the help of an octopus is to go to Wallpaper settings click on wallpaper preview that is not the lock screen and pinch the image so it shrinks in the screen - this will get the "Cancel/Set" buttons out of the image. If you let go of the pinch, it'll bounce back, so the trick is to pinch and screen grab at the same time. Then you can crop out the wallpaper setting details in newly captured image in Photos. I was able to do this with four fingers on two hands (no feet required :)) on an iPhone 4s, not sure how dexterous you need to be on an iPhone 6 or 6 plus.
