I am running Windows 10 Home 20H2 19042.985. I kept receiving a message that Dropbox needed to be updated. So, finally I tried it. It would download and run and close right away. I tried all sorts of things to try and get it installed. I was able to start the install when I booted in Safe mode with Networking turned on.
I tried both the installer that downloads the image, and the one that indicates it is a full install with no network connection required (which is false, it would not run unless I was connected to the internet.
I have the latest version of Chrome, which is my default browser. If you notice the above image it is Windows Explorer that opens up. I updated Edge to the latest version, FireFox, etc. Nothing works.
I have read a lot of updates in the community with people who have gotten the same errors. I have tried many of them with no success. Is there a really true offline installer that needs no internet connect? Then once I get it installed I could boot out of safe mode and make the connection to my Dropbox account?
I will now have to try and figure out what happened with my normal Administrator profile I log in with every day. That is outside the scope of Dropbox support, and I totally understand that. At least Dropbox helped me get their application installed and working by providing good recommendations.

I have recently been trying my installs in SAFE MODE, and I have tried both the regular and the offline installs, so no anti virus or firewalls are active. I have read through a lot of the threads in the community for this error, before even opening this. So far nothing has worked. I tried the one you pointed to and I am still getting the exact same error. I tried looking for the log files, The only place I found a Dropbox folder was in:
%LOCALAPPDATA%
I can send the log file to you if you think it would help, I just need to know what extension to put on it, so that it won't get corrupted.
I have tried so many different things and nothing has worked. I really would like to get Dropbox working again. Is it possible to try a version of the install (offline) that is a little older, that wouldn't insist on an upgrade?
Sorry, it has taken me a bit to reply. Sad to say it did not work. The error regarding the incompatible browser is gone, but I am still getting The installer encountered error 2. When I click on more help I now get the generic page on what to do if Dropbox does not install.
I have a setup created that installs an application, and still does, but it started giving a strange warning at the end out of the blue. So, when the installation process finishes, the following appears:
I was not changing anything in the "User interface" or "Custom actions" so this came unexpected. Also the installation completes if you just click ok and everything works fine, it just doesn't look good from a user perspective. Any help or similar issues encountered?
Control_Next: This is probably just the tab-order for the controls on the dialog. See the Control_Next column of the Control Table. You need to find a way to visit each control of the dialog in sequence and sort out so there are no loops or double links.
TAB Order: In the dialog in question (launch the setup and get yourself to the FinishedForm dialog), try hitting TAB repeatedly to see what happens. It might work, but you might see the control order being messed up so TAB unexpectedly moves around the dialog haphazardly going in "reverse" selecting a control already visited or similar.
Fix: Fixing this depends on what tool you are using. You can "test fix" directly in the final MSI using ORCA or a similar tool to edit the Control Table directly (just open the MSI and do it). The real, lasting fix will be in the sources used to compile the setup. WiX, Installshield, Advanced Installer, Visual Studio Installer, or whatever tool you are using. Exact fix depends on tool. A screen shot of the Control Table content could give us the clue we need.
If you're using the common script EnableLaunchApplication.js within a Visual Studio Installer project, then the 2810 error code is most likely caused by a single line within that script, along with a recent Visual Studio update.
I actually had the same problem and my Control Table was over populated just as you mentioned above. I beleive it was related or at least co-incided with the Visual Studio update from 16.3 to 16.4.2. For me I used the Visual Studio Installer too and on the older version of VS it compiles fine but the same commit number on a different machine with the new version it causes the same issue and the Control Table has a lot more Control_Next entries populated. Still not sure how to fix yet though in the source.
Edit:Ok I discovered the problem. The issue with it now populating more of the Control_Next I can only put down to a the update. However, the automatic entries put in by Visual Studio would have been fine but I realised we had the MSI launch the exe after install using this: Visual Studio Installer > How To Launch App at End of Installer technique.
That meant I was injecting and modifying the Control_Next and thus caused the loop of Control_Next to be non circular. It is worth noting that the Control_Next is basically the tab order of the MSI screen and it must always be closed (imagine the tab without anywhere to go).. Anyway, it was ultimately caused by us modifying on the post build process the Control_Next to add in the checkbox. After working out the last entry on a build without our code running i just modified the original last entry and then slotted in out one there. Now it works fine.
Hi, I followed the tutorial and tried to install the SRanipal, but I failed the first time as my account is not a admin. But the second time when I am using an admin account, I encountered the Error 1001 problem.
I think @nickie123 gives a pretty clear explanation. The problem is likely due to the incomplete installation or uninstallation. I have tried all the solutions I can find online but still have no luck. I really don't wanna reinstall my computer just for this SDK. Any advice would be appreciated.
I found a fix for this today, if you look into the directory in which SRAnipal is being installed, usually Programfiles/Vive, then go into the SRAnipal directory and copy everything out into a temporary directory. Allow the installer to fail, and delete everything within the SRAnipal directory, (this may lead to you needing to kill a running sranipal process). Then, copy everything from your temporary directory over to the original SRAnipal directory and execute the sr_runtime.exe. This worked for me, and no clean boot is needed. Seems the error is thrown after the actual install process, so nothing is missing even though it didn't 'complete the install'.
Hello,
Im using win 7 32 bit. Ive repeatedly downloaded the installer. Ive run it while Brave 25.304 was running and it failed.
Ive run it when Brave was not running , it failed.
Ive run it with my firewall turned off and brave not running, and it failed.
Is there an OFF LINE INSTALLER & if so where because I cant find it.
((also this message insists on at least ONE TAG and when I tried to add my own it then stops me from choosing ANYTHING and wont let me post- ive tried 5 times and Im getting aggravated.
Thank you
After trying a few different ways I launched IE11 browser (I am guessing most other browsers would work?), went to the brave site and downloaded the new browser. Launched it and imported my bookmarks and settings.
well I CAN understand that, just about every software on the market relies on PARTS of windoze or its favorite browser IE already being installed. Microsoft wont even let you do any updates unless you allow everything THEY want to be updated.
Ahem S Of course I did NOT deactivate or cut off my internet CONNECTION while the Brave app was updating and download and installing its updates.
I fully realize the tiny download allows the computer to connect and download a larger install that takes time : D AS I said, an independent OFFLINE INSTALLER would solve this issue.
