Dear All,
Here is our latest post on Facebook.

No coherent principle underlies the distinction between the British Pensioners of which overseas countries receive frozen or unfrozen pensions.
The UKs oldest and closest Commonwealth relationships - Canada, Australia and New Zealand - are all Frozen.
So are most former Commonwealth nations, including South Africa and Malawi (which supplies significant numbers of NHS healthcare professionals). Meanwhile, Switzerland, Turkiye, the Philippines, EU countries and certain Caribbean nations are unfrozen.
The Falkland Islands - a British Overseas Territory since 1765, defended at enormous cost in 1982 - has 88 pensioners subject to the freeze. Gibraltar and Bermuda, also British Overseas Territories, do not encounter the same pension policy.
This policy is totally inconsistent and irrational. Help us fight this unfair policy that leaves some British Pensioners in poverty by joining BPiA today and end this injustice.

Good letter. You left out USA they are not frozen...Canada is ...diabolical...absurd...wildly unreasonable.

Barbara

You are not alone.  I had paid a full complement of contributions plus graduated pension when I moved to Australia in my mid fifties. My pension is frozen and has been since I turned 60 in 2015.

Hi John!

At the moment you don't need to do anything.  There is information about the sale at https://www.racq.com.au/bank-transaction and you don't need to do anything now.

Just make sure that your contact details are up to date.

Once everything has moved to Bendigo Bank there may be some changes, but you will get more information about that when it happens.

Like Barbara,  I'm also a Brit, living in Sri Lanka and have been on a frozen pension for the last 17 years.  Such a disgusting state, considering we all contribute through our working lives to our pension pot and when the time comes to receive it, we are short changed and in the long run, left suffering.

What's even worse is that the British pension is one of the lowest in Europe. We get mistreated in all directions.

I have lived in an Australia for 22 years with frozen pension. I did argue this at first and pointed out that I had always paid full stamp believing I would get a full pension. At no time was I told it would be frozen if I moved countries. Also being in a commonwealth country, I would have thought we would have been granted a full pension.
Alas this is not so.

I came to Australia,on my retirement at 60, from a teaching career in Uk. the year was 2001.
My only child had married an Australian some years earlier and my only grandchildren were here.
My first year of Pension came through in 2001...in 2002 I was told my pension was already frozen, due to my living overseas, specifically Australia.I was in disbelief, still am,for  its not democratic!

From 2002 my  pen sion has been frozen,i.e from age 60 through to my present age,85..and I have been living on my own (single income)throughout that period.
DEMOCRATIC,...no !
DISGUSTING..... yes!
I am British born and bred,I gave 40  years of teaching and paying taxes to UK,prior to emigrating to Australia, and it appears to count for nothing! ...only penalties in the form of frozen pension.
Hang your head in shame WESTMINSTER!

I'm not so sure paying is it 30 Australian $, will help a British single man, retiring to  Kampot Cambodia, lots of Australians there, by the way.
To set up a silkscreen workshop at Epic Arts, disadvantaged & disabled young Khmers.
My State Pension forecast, despite, putting in £5.7K from a Motor Insurers Bureau Hit & Run Compensation. Is only forecast at £150 a week.
My NHS, l'm a Porter since October 2018, it will be 10 years service by the time l retire.
l'll be retired but not on a Cambodian retirement Visa. I'll have to find print customers. Hopefully big museums & 5* Hotels near the Angkor Wat, Temples.
64 this July.
