A couple of friends of mine - Mahesh Kale and Salar Nadar - are performing in the Bay Area. Both of them are excellent musicians - Mahesh is a disciple of the renowned vocalist late Pandit Jeetendra Abhisheki while Salar is a studant of Ustad Zakir Hussain.

This concert is like a sampler of Indian Classical Vocal Music. It will present a melange (meaning an assortment) of different genres of Indian Classical Vocal right from Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, Tappa to Ghazal, Bhajan, Abhang, etc. It is mainly targeted for people who love music but may not be into Indian Classical. The organizers would like to introduce it to them in a refreshing and very interactive way. This is a unique concert covering the breadth of classical vocal and as such will be a wonderful introduction to our music for people who haven't had a chance to explore it yet. Of course, all classical music lovers will thoroughly enjoy it too.

I would very much recommend attending this concert if you are a student of Hindustani Classical music or if you want to understand various facets of Indian music or simply want to have a great evening.

Thanks,
Prasad
