I believe virtuadub depends on an external codecs, and the codec I have for XVID came from Vidomi (which didn't work with the MJPG .avi files) and divx came from the current 6.2 which I believe is crippled if you don't but the pro license. Probably that's why I had such poor quality with DivX.
