Dear Members,
Let us take a moment to wholeheartedly appreciate the remarkable achievement of our fellow pensioner, Shri. C.N. Prasadji.
Not content with merely obtaining a favourable court order, Mr. Prasad went a step further. When SBI failed to comply, he had the courage and determination to file a Contempt Petition in the Supreme Court of India, compelling no less than the Chairman of SBI himself to appear before the Court.
The result — the Supreme Court firmly directed SBI to pay the revised commuted pension value and rejected SBI's attempt to hide behind Regulation 41. The Court made it clear that banks cannot use internal regulations to defy judicial orders. SBI tendered an unconditional apology and was directed to make full payment within four weeks.
This was not just a legal victory — it was an act of courage, conviction, and commitment to the cause of fellow bank pensioners.
I salute Shri. C.N. Prasadji for his fighting spirit and thank him sincerely for sharing this valuable judgement with our group.
With kind regards,
Sanjay J.
