Syndicate Bank has commenced releasing pension arrears from
15/12/2010 itself. It is learnt that their target is to complete the
process before 31/01/2011,notwithstanding that in all 8 persons are put
on the job.You can imagine the speed with which the work is going on.

Dear all,

With the new information with regard to payment of pension arrears in
Syndicate Bank a new date has reflected i.e. 31.01.2011(as a targeted
dead line) means a hammer attack on the retirees who were expecting
the arrears by 31.12.2010.

I understand that in northern region the demand letters were received
very late (after 03.12.2010) and hence the payments were also late. It
means that in these areas the arrears will be available only after 15
th Jan 2011, as a new year gift.

Thanks and keep informing.

Kind attn Mr. N.T. Hegde
thanks for the information. Let us hope that , at least in case of those who have remitted early, the pension be released, instead of waiting for the entire lot of applications and then start processing, in which case, again there will be delay.
I do hope that the retirees associaions, proposed retirees association take up the matter early.

I have just now sent one mail seeking your attention in the delay expected delat in disbursal of pension. From this email , i understand that , you have already started follow up.
Thanks for initiative. Kindly persue for earler disbursal for atleast those, who have remitted before 15th dec 2010.Delay in receipt of forms in northern region is not an excuse for delay in disbursal of pension

Dear all,

Any news from syndicate bank with regard to payment of pension
arrears.

It appears that the staff shortage is the only problem in all the
banks as management is least bothered for a speedy disposal of the
cases. In such a situation with the meager staff availability only
50-60 cases are being settled in a day.

Hence we may expect the arrears by the end of the Jan-2011 and regular
pension from 01.02.2011 pertaing to the month of Jan 2011.

These are my calculations and this may please not be treated as a
news.

Thanks.

Dear Satyendra ji
Thank you for writing to me on the matter . I have mentioned in my mail about one of my friends getting the TT of Pension arrears alongwith me. He is none other than Mr. N.K.Goel , AGM (Retd.) . We both are residing in Vaishali , Ghaziabad , and got our arrears through Vaishali Branch , Ghaziabad .
Another friend Mr U. N. Srivastav, AGM(Retd.) has not yet received the arrears. He is also having a/c with Vaishali Branch.
Some of my friends who are in Delhi have also NOT yet received the arrears and every passing day is testing their patience.
Anyway , it is a matter of a day or two that good news will be there and this agony will be over .
I may also add here that I had remitted the demanded amount on 3rd Dec. 2010.

Wishing you and all your family members a very Happy and Prosperous New Year .
With warm regards

Dear all,

I have received my arrears of pension amounting to Rs 164238/- today
on 04.01.2011. The same was received by the branch on 03.01.2011 but
due to non availability of account number on the TT it was pending
with the branch.

All are advised to contact the branch as TT's are being sent by HO/SWD
mentioning name only and no account is mentioned.

Sir,
Normally in Syndicate Bank, HO:SWD:Manipal will issue credit IBA along with schedule of list of pensioners every month before 30th.
The list contains names and account numbers of the pensioners. Accordingly branches will credit to the respective accounts every month. While issuing TT HO:SWD:Manipal might have not provided full details of your name and account etc in the said TT.  Please take up the matter with your Regional Office for immediate credit of the said TT.  This is the present state of our syndicate bank staff service and relationship.

Dear Ramasamy
Don"t get dejected I am fully confident that all the normal VRS non
optees too will get pension sooner or later it is only a matter of
time. Our trade union leaders could have taken legal advice on pension
draft before signing the agreement.

Regarding family pension the same is yet to be paid by the bank. It takes some time as per the information available.

dear shri hegde,
good evening. With Ur limitations and kind wisdom, if feasible, kindly take up with IBA, SBOA, Central Board of Income Taxes to seek exemption of I.T., on the 156% of PF remitted by us towards pension fund on par with 2.8 times of salary contributed by the existing bank employees. I am marking copy of this mail to other stalwarts for follow-up.

If contribution of 2.8 times by existing staff  for funding the gap is eligible for  tax relief then contribution of additional 56% for funding the gap by retirees  should be eligible for tax relief on the parity , natural justice, no discrimination amongst the same class o people contributing  for gap. Let us take up the matter with IBA, Finance Minister, Income tax authorities have no authority to grand such concession directly unless they get instruction from  Ministry of Finance as the roll of IT dept. is to collect more tax as far as possible for them.

1.Tax exemption on contribution @ 2.8 times of revised Nov 2007
Salary, by existing employees, towards so called "Pension Fund Gap" has
so far not been granted.

The above point was raised by AIBOC vide their letter dt.10th May
2010,addressed to IBA,requesting them to obtain Special Permission
from CBDT to exempt entire contribution to pension fund from payment
of tax.So that the recovery made from existing employees @ 2.8 times
of revised Nov 2007 may be treated as superannuation benefits and
exempt from recovery of tax under TDS.

2.On one side, number of existing employees as well as Retirees (Pf
optees) have moved Writ Petitions, through various High Courts in
the country, against the unjustifiable and illegal recovery of 2.8
times of Nov 2007 salary and 156% PF from retirees to wards Pension
Fund Gap.
Pension fund Regulations 1995 stipulates on contributions and
management of Pension Fund by employer.
Employees/Retirees have no obligation to contribute towards 'Fund
Gap'.

3.On other side AIBOC, make request to IBA through their letter,to
seek tax exemption of entire contribution, where as it is fact that
AIBOC is one of the constituent who signed settlemnt dt 27.4.10,with
IBA for recovery of 2.8 times of salary from existing employees and
156% from retirees.

4. Central Board of Direct Taxes has to take decision on the subject
matter.Whether matter has been taken up by IBA is another question.

5.If contribution towards Pension Fund Gap is exempted from tax
payment , same cannot be restricted to existing employees only, since
'contribution to Fund' is the criteria and not contribution by
different groups.

First of all CBDT's decision is important, that too before the
Financial Year end.

Dear Sir,

I need some guidence as to the payment of commutation amount to SVRS-Jan-2001.  It is informed that commutation was payable as per 6th BPS whereas Basic Pension calculated as per 7th BPS ( effective from 1998-2002).

Actual case is that my Basic was 9700/- as on 15.01.2001( as per 6th BPS) , the same stage to stage  fitment come to Rs.15,000/- last stage of Scale-III.

I have been paid Commutation as per Basic Salary of 9700/- calculating BP- Rs,6017/-  and Basic Pension was revised as per 7th BPS taking average Basic Salary of Rs.14866/- allowing Basic Pension of Rs.6983/-  ( with weightageof 31 Years) .
Commutation---
6th BPS - 9612/-- revised to Rs.12810/- BP-6012/-less  commutated value Rs.2005- Net Basic Pension Rs.4012/-

Basic Pension----
7th BPS -9612-  revided to Rs.14866/- -BP Rs.6983/- less comm Rs.2005/- net Basic Rs.4978/-

Will any one will be kind enugh to guide me whether this is correct  way to calculate commutation ?

Regards,
S.N.Sharma
