Dear Mr Bhag chand Jain Ji/ Hansraj Manuja Ji,
The number of dearness relief slabs is calculated precisely based on the average Consumer Price Index (CPI) points over the fixed base index.
The Indian Banks' Association (IBA) computes percentages up to two decimal places, ignoring or rounding off figures beyond the second decimal place.
Let me inform that based on CPI figures of April,May & June under 2016 series the average figure converted to 1960 series comes to 9917 as posted by me in my previous message.
For example : Under 11th BPS/JN CPI points of 6352 was merged with pay.As such 9917-6352 comes to 3565 and slab comes to 891 for Aug'26.Slab for previous period ie: Feb'26 was 844.There for the increase for current half year is 47 slabs as shown in my referred post.
Let us ignore such social media news, which give wrong information.
Hope I have made clear.
Once official circular of IBA is released same may be posted here for your reference.
Regards
Mohan.P
