congrats

take the cause of retirees
Ask for retirees share in 3% welfare fund . If maximum is 25 cr and retired get 1/3 i.e. 8 cr, it will be huge relief and retirees can get heavy medical support. this should be the major issue. the Bank can not deny it. retirees are entitled for proportional share.

Dear sir,
It is really a good news that our retirees' association has got the status of recognition and
we can have dialogue with the management regarding various issues/facilities which the
retirees have been deprived off and one of such facility is the grant of annual medical aid to
VRS optees at par with the persons retired on superannuation.Apart from it the pension
updation , parity with central pension regulations, second pension option to vrs optees/ other
retirees are the issues pending with the management and board.
Thans for the news and your sincere efforts.

Dear Sir,

It is heartening to hear that Syndicate Bank is the first one to recognize the retired staff association. Now  there will be a channel to voice your grievances at least once in while directly to the management. I hope all other bank managements may follow suit following the example set by syndicate bank. I do not know whether raising the issues like 100% DA neutralization and updation of pension in the forum will bring any results since these issues  are to be settled at industry level. Issues like medical facilities to all retired staff irrespective of the type of retirement  and also the holiday home facility for all may be taken up immediately  for solutions since these issues does not require the intervention of IBA/govt

Dear Shri Rajagoplan,

It just a clarification, not to demean the recognition accorded to Syndicate Bank Retirees' Association.  Many banks, like State Bank of Mysore, Canara Bank, etc.  have recognised Retirees' Association and joint meetings with them have also been conducted.  Minutes of the meeting signed by the Bank's representatives are also in public domain.

Thanks, a Million.

As Mr Prasad has informed in Canara Bank, already a grievances cell is existing and two meetings have been convened. They can discuss only intra bank problems and even the medical reimbursement to SVRS, which is within the purview of the Bank, has not been permitted so far. The cell is for the representatives of the retirees to make demands and for the bank to reject. But let us be optimistic. The cell is undoubtedly a step forward and it is for the retirees to make it purposeful.
Hope in due course of time, it will play an important role. Now it is taking only individual cases, like not getting family pension, non receipt of PPO etc.

Hi All,
It is a great step forward.Let the name be termed as Ambassador Cell rather than Grievances cell.I firmly believe that if the retirees can prove that we can be Best Ambassadors in spreading good word for the respective banks the upper management will realize the worth of the retired staff and be more inclined to be responsive to our problems .Let us  by our united strength show what we can do for the Bank rather than what the bank can do for us.
I recently was with the chairman of a bank and during casual talks it transpired that IBA has been discussing issues of pensioners.
Let us hope for the best.

Thank you sir, for your valuable suggestion. But it is for the Banks to treat you as Ambassader or otherwise. Infact, all the Pensioners are already doing the good job of Ambassaders.
But all Banks consider Pensioners as unwanted burden only.

what we can do for the Bank rather than what the bank can do for us.
This is a very pleasing slogan. Perhaps, you are a recently superannuated pensioner and do not have any grievance with your Bank. But pl look at the aged pensioners  retired before 1/11/2002 who are losing every month Rs1000 to Rs4000/ on account of a discriminated DA formula. Though all the Retirees worked for the Bank, most Banks discriminate them into superannuated and aborted and continue to deny the annual Medical Aid to the later. Many Banks feel shy of issuing ID cards to Pensioners; nor do they permit the retired to stay in their Holiday Homes.
Sir, I hope now you can understand the contribution/sacrifice every month made by the pre-1/11/2002 Pensioners.
Sir, I thank you for discussing the issues of Pensioners with your CMD-friend and convincing him to extend the benefits due to them without discrimination.

Sir,
IBA is also a  forum of banks and its head (chairman) is also is a chairman of certain bank. They are well conversant with retiree problems and are going to retiree in next 2-3 appx. yrs at the most. They are like post office to forward letters from one side to govt. and vice versa with comments. so at least they should forward retirees demand with good remarks in favour of retirees. FM is the decision making body.

Dear friends,

Why we should be too much bothered of upholding the banks' image when these banks are not bothered of their own retires? Anyway, let us not tarnish these so called 'images'.The institutions who harass their own retired employees by way of pressurising them to go on litigation, going on appeals against the verdicts in favour of the retired employees etc rather instigate the workforce to introspect on loyalty in performance. So, finally who plays instrumental role in tarnishing the image- certainly not the retirees.
We fight for our existence.Let us limit our thoughts on these lines.

In a way you are correct. When the  Banks do not care for its retirees, why the hell we should worry about its image.let us fight for our rights and if the Banks are sympathetic, we can express our gratitude. That's all. After all they are not paying anything out of the way, but only our dues, for which we have to fight day and night!
