*Introduction*
1. AB PM-JAY is an existing Scheme.
2. All families of (Below Poverty Line) category have been enrolled in the Scheme based on their Ration Card data.
3. BPL families need not submit any application for enrollment. They can feed their Ration Card number in the PMJY website and download the Insurance Beneficiary Card.
4. Annual limit of the Scheme (Policy) for the whole family is Rs 5 lakhs.
5. The Scheme is a 100% Cashless one.

*From Yesterday*
1. The Union Cabinet made the Scheme more inclusive yesterday.
2. All Citizens of age 70 and above have been included as beneficiaries.
3. Income criteria for such Senior Citizens (70 +) has been done away with. This means that even Income Tax Assessees have been included.
4. There are other free health insurance Schemes existing for Govt Employees, Defence Retirees, etc. Those beneficiaries, if they so want, are free to choose between their existing free Scheme and the newly included ABPM-JAY Scheme.
5. Having a paid Insurance Plan already is *Not A Bar* on enjoying the benefits of this new Scheme. This means that SBI Pensioners, aged 70 and above, having our own Policy-A and/or Policy-B are included in the AB PM-JAY Scheme and they can utilise the annual limit of Rs 5 lakhs in addition to their Group Insurance Schemes.

*Admission Procedure*

1. It is not yet spelt out.
2. Existing beneficiaries were identified by their Family Ration Card data.
3. New beneficiaries are likely to be identified by their Aadhaar data.
4. A new kind of ID Card will be made available for the new kind of Senior Citizen beneficiaries.
5. Scheme is only *Cashless* No worry of paying first and praying later.
6. There's no individual tie-up with hospitals as Vidal does. All hospitals have to mandatorily admit patients holding AB PM-JAY Cards.

*What is there for me to be happy about?*
1. All Pensioners and Family Pensioners aged 70 and above are included in the AB PM-JAY Scheme.
2. There is a huge chunk of Pensioners who are not enrolling for Policy-B for various reasons, Premium payment being one. I am excited that those unfortunate Retirees aged 70 and above, especially from the Subordinate cadre and some Family Pensioners who don't have any insurance at all, will now be covered for 5 lakh Rupees.

*Conclusion*
In every way this Scheme is useful !
