The special meeting of Andhra Bank Retirees at Hyderabad was attended by
1. Sri Haragopal, General Secretary, Punjab National Bank Retirees Assn. & Core committee Member, All India Bank Retirees Federation.
2. Sri Subba Rao, of Canara Bank Retirees Association
3. Sri A. Rajendra Prasad, President, Andhra Bank Retired Employees Assn.
Sri Pradeep Kumar, VRS (2001)optee from Bank of India and practicing advocate in Supreme Court of India, who valiantly fought in the supreme court for the sake of Bank Retirees was the chief guest of the evening.
Sri Pradeep Kumar, narrated the sequence of his arguments in SC in respect of his recent case which was unfortunately dismissed on some technicalities. He proposed to go for filing a case on Delhi HC on behalf of bank retirees from various Banks with a writ of Mandamus and advised the Bank retirees who have been meeted out injustice on many counts as narrated by him.
Sri Haragopal said that the Retirees Federation is doing its best to get the issues solved through negotiation with all the stake holders in the matter. He felt that Cases on any issue may preempt their efforts and fructification as the other parties will take the recourse that the matter is sub-judice. He wanted the working Bank employees Unions to take up the matter in earnest as they can see their future in the present predicament of Bank Retirees. He informed that some of chief executive and top management functionaries in Banks who earlier fought against benefits for retirees are now able to experience the injustice in comparison with their close relatives who get a better pension though they worked in lower cadres in Govt.
He said that there seems to be some recognition of this injustice even in IBA. He expressed his fond hope that what ever is entitled to the retired fraternity will surely come if all of us can unitedly bring pressure on the IBA and Govt.
Sri Subba Rao, expressed that the retirees have to stay united atleast till their legitimate demands or met. He said that there is strength in Unity.
Sri Rajendra Prasad said that many of the retirees even today are not joining the retirees associations and are expecting to get the dues without even contributing their minimum (membership) to their associations who have taken up the office bearership with a service motto unlike the working employees unions(who enjoy certain facilities and clout).
All the retirees who attended in large number, thanked Sri Pradeep Kumar, Haragopal and Subba Rao for their valuable advice.
This is for information of group members.
