Discrimination non-SBI Pensioners Vis-a-vis SBI Pensioners.

Dear friends,

Most of us believe that SBI Pensioners have three benefits and there is nothing wrong in all of them getting pension at 50%.  Unfortunately, Apex Organisations representing non-SBI Pensioners demand even improvement of pension in SBI and also 

provide platform for securing their benefit.  Being a part of SBI, after amalgamation, we understand step motherly treatment.

But, we have not seen any time SBI Pensioners demanding the benefits, which they are already having or any benefit which 

they may not be entitled to.  But, we are magnanimous to demand improvement of their pension.

When we saw representatives or leaders raising objections to presence of IBA representatives, stating that they have nothing 

to do with IBA, we saw message that they are not bothered about us.  On behalf of State Bank Retirees' Association, we have 

taken up the matter with Indian Banks' Association, detailing history of pension in State Bank of India and how we are 

discriminated.  Unfortunately, we do not see nothing other than pension revision.

We are attaching a copy of the letter addressed to the CEO, Indian Banks Association.

In the Banks' family there are 3 siblings

1.RBI pensioners who are vested with status of "Bigger Brothers"

2.Mainstream SBI pensioners "Big Brothers"

3.Ancillary SBI and PSB pensioners

"Step Brothers"

The true parents(DFS) are not supposed to discriminate among children based on  their earning capacity as money goes to common kitty

There are anomalies among SBI pensioners. Erstwhile SBI subsidiaries pensioners though now SBI pensioners are covered by EPR 1995 negotiated by IBA. Original SBI pensioners do not come under BPS.

Now immediate concern is updation.  SBI pensioners enjoy 3 benefits with ceiling on pension whereas PSU Bank pensioners enjoy 2 benefits without ceiling on pension.

How can an Uniform pension updation scheme be implemented for both PSU Bank pensioners and SBI pensioners  with such anomalies?

UFBU has no plan or proposal in this regard.

Nothing is clear as of now. We have to wait till August 31st to know the stand of IBA.

Sri.C.N.Prasad demands are genuine, but IBA takes ages to settle anything.

Dear Shri Somashekar Sir,

Kindly substitute "Associate Banks" in place of the words you have used.  As you know, All Banks that were Associate Banks were established by Kings of respective region.  I want to add that State Bank Of Mysore was designated Bankers to the Government of His Highness the Maharaja Of Mysore.  Great Rajarshi and King of Mysore State granted Rs. 20 lakhs and also donated land adjacent to the place that is now called as "Mysore Bank Circle".   It was after sincere pressurising, the term Associate Banks were changed as the profits and business generated were mainly due to the Officers and Employees of these Banks.   

Further, it is believed that two types of allowances were given to Balance the difference amount that will equalize to 50% have been in place for the original retirees and thus they get the identical deal.  You may kindly cross check with the Pensioners Unions too and correct me.   As Associate Banks get only two benefits namely pension and gratuity only, the retirees of associate Banks plead.

Why you are creating an unpleasant situation among pensioners?Pension amounts are far less than the amounts paid to PSB retirees.Now da neutralization is agreed upon.Pension @50 percent of basic pay without ceiling to each category/ grade will smoothen the process of updation.Instead of waiting for a little more time,it is unfair to give a feeling of hatred among retirees.Moreover,HighPower Committee is formed at the instance of Delhi High Court.

What was the position of pension in all banks from 1947,1955 and in 1980? How many banks were getting pension?When SC said that there cannot be any upper ceiling for pension,SBI pensioners were denied the benefit.Again,da was tapered resulting in large scale discrimination to SBI pensioners.Contributory pf,gratuity and pension were in Imperial Bank of India and SBI inherited that.For pensioners,quantum of pension every month counts.

Mr.KDS Nair seems to conveniently forget the fact of extra earning out of employers contribution received ..Or atleast the lumpsum received helping them in other ways .SBI pensioners should fall in the mainstream

SBI pensioners are receiving pension from the time of IBI.Other banks are getting pension from 95-96.So it is good for all pensioners to have equal pension grade wise without any anomaly and a clause for updation when wage is revised periodically.

Dear Mr.Nair,

We have no problem with SBI Pensioners getting the pension improvement.  But, what we desire is corresponding benefit to non-SBI Pensioners also.  Please remember, Mr.Nadaf refused to sign the MOU of the second pension option during 2009 and demanded compensation.  When we get some benefit, SBI Pensioners claim and get additional benefit.  There must be reciprocity. 

Just a reminder, like us, even in SBI, there were two benefits, till 1972.  When the third benefit was introduced, what is that we have got ?

There is no relationship or connection between SBI Pensioners getting 50% pension and our pension revision.  Please remember that the Pensioners' Advocate raised an objection to the presence of representatives of IBA in the committee.

My dear Mr.Prasad,

 There were all retrial benefits, as at present ,when I joined in SBI in 1966.There is no change in any of them even now (other than changes Murmu committee forced upon us.Never we had any benefit until 2017 when our basic pension was made 7120 upto scale 6 officers.This is the correct position obtaining in SBI now.We are not paid 50 percent pension,pension on pqa etc and da also is tapered.I only wanted to tell that change in SBI pension is relating to stoppage of employee contribution and increase in management contribution.Never nobody helped or pleaded for us at least for equalization in pensions.

Dear Mr.Nair,

The Pension was not available till 1925 and contributory pension was introduced.  Contribution by the employees was dispensed with from 1955.  Then SBI employees were not receiving Gratuity.  Only from 1972, they are in receipt of Gratuity. 

Even though we are in receipt of pension from 1993, we have surrendered the Management portion of the Provident Fund.   But, SBI employees got Compensatory Allowance. Even in 2010, SBI employees have got compensatory allowance.  But, what is that Pensioners of other Nationalised Banks and also erstwhile Associate Banks have got, when the pension of SBI pensioners have got improvement, what is given to us ?  

For your information, we are attaching a copy of the circular of 2010, for your information with regard to discriminatory treatment meted out to  Pensioners of other Nationalised Banks and also erstwhile Associate Banks have got, when the pension of SBI pensioners have got improvement.
