I have completed 19 years,8 months, 4 days and took SVRS from Canara Bank in 2001. My qualifying service and actual service are calculated as 20 years but the weightage of 5 years is not given for the reason that I have not completed 20 years of service. Can any of the members suggest a remedy or a favorable judgment to give weightage to similarly placed in any bank...

Thanks to Sri J Somasekara for forwarding the relevant judgment. IBA letter of 2009  is also there advising banks to implement the judgment. But which bank has implemented is not known. Kindly pass on the information as the Canara Bank has not implemented it.

Canara Bank has implemented the 5 year benefit with 9% interest. 1616-1684 arrears also paid with intertest. However commutation recovery was made from DOR instead of from Date of credit.
Canara Bank is the first Bank to implement SC verdict of 2018 promptly

Yes.
Canara Bank was the 1st to implement 1616  - 1684.
But it has not given weightage of 5 years for those who have completed 19 years, 6 months but not completed 20 years of physical service.

Krishnaiah sir, was there any loss of pay leave for long term resulting in reducing your service below 6 months?. Only experts can evaluate

Dear Sir, I did not have loss of pay even for a day. My actual service was 19 years 8 months 5 days.  Being an ex-serviceman, i opted for SVRS at the age of 55.

Sir Did Canara Bank interest at 9% ?  Bank should have paid the interest at 9% on commutation amount and recovery should have started on payment of the differential commutation amount.  But both have not happened and no one agitated also.  That is the sad part.

Dear friends,

Most of the Banks have not paid 5 years benefit to those who have served over 19 years & 6 months, but less than 20 years.  We have got that benefit in SBM

Thanking you,

With regards,
Prasad C N
