We should not be surprised if the Goverment introduces Agniveer Yojna in banks and other departments also.It will inflate the number of jobs created. The Government can comfortably boast of giving SO AND SO MANY JOBS TO UNEMPLOYED YOUTH.

This is a pure political strike taking the name of workers. Well planned at the time of election campaign in some states. As far as Bank employees are concerned, they have got a good wage increase  and BPS settlement completed in the shortest time.
A 5 day week demand is pending at DFS and the Govt has assured in the CLC meeting that  a decision will be taken soon. While UPA govt stalled Updation in RBI and nabard, this Government has sanctioned it within 5 years of taking charge. In PSU banks  UFBU is not taking initiative to discuss the issue with iBA and resolve the same and meekly accepting sub judice anwer. UFBU has no commitment, responsibility towards its ex members who served the unions for 35-40 years and are now posing as champions of  workers.
Except losing one day's salary nothing will happen as the entire country knows this is nothing but a political stunt.

Well assessed and right observation to the strike call by leftist parties, politically motivated. The irony is officer's in banks and insurance are not striking.
This general strike is an annual ritual
to protect the image and existence  of trade unions. What else.

What you have stated is true. But, the policy of major trade unions in banks, right from their inception has been that their members should not only fight for their own causes but lend their support to the other workers and general public in India and elsewhere too.

Hope you remember that in the 1970's strikes were held in banks for the cause of the Vietnamese people in their political struggles.
