SUBMISSION OF LIFE CERTIFICATE BY PENSIONERS.

 For Information:

Dear Friends,

                                November   is the month in each year, for submission of Life Certificate by bank Pensioners/family pensioners to their respective Pension drawing branch in formats issued by their Banks.

                                 In some of the Banks the format of Life Certificate is very simple and pensioner need to visit the branch only and

official will certify/submit the life certificate to their corporate office duly signed  by them to the effect that  official  has seen the pensioner and he/she is alive on that date.(eg. Corporation Bank.One copy of Life Certificate also will be given to pensioner as acknowledgement)

In few other banks pensioners signature is found obtained in the formats. No uniform format is found introduced so far in Banks.

                                Banks have started issuing circulars on this subject for the information of pensioners/family pensioners to remind them the yearly exercise in November. Pensioners, may please be noted to get in touch with their bank branches for specific details.

Under CSPPC at SBI , Life Certificate can be submitted by the pensioner/ family pensioner at any branch.

Is this facility available at other Banks for staff pensioners/family pensioners ?

Dear Shri PM,

Thanks for your timely reminder on Life Certificate. Last year there were reports that a new system based on Aadhar would be introduced for this purpose. Our Bank wanted the Aadhar numbers to be connected to the pension account.

I will have to wait for the circular from Bank.

                                                     The facility to submit life Certificate by Bank Pensioner to any of the branches of the banks,is not yet introduced by most of the PSBs. As I said earlier ,there are no uniform guidelines on this subject in banks and Pension Regulation too does not provide for  the same. The practice continued  as in the case of Govt retirees which are followed in banks too.

                                                     However for Central Govt pensioners have now moved to  a new system called "Jeevan Pramaan" which was introduced last year which enables pensioner to submit  digital certificates on line,from his place , based on his/her Aadhar number and biometric details from his mobile device or computer, by plugging in a biometric reading device.

                                                      Under that process,key details of the pensioner, including date, time, and biometric information will be uploaded to a central database on real-time basis, ultimately enabling the Pension Disbursing Agency to access a Digital Life Certificate. This will conclusively establish that the pensioner was alive at the time of authentication.

                                                      Such system should come to Banks also for the benefit of pensioners who some times stay away from pension drawing branch.(especially during November )

                                                       Bank managements are always reluctant to implement good things to retirees which will be beneficial to them!
