CIRCULAR NO. 28/24 [ 4/2020/82 12-10-2020
TO ALL UNITS AND MEMBERS:
Dear Comrades,
AIBEA OFFICE BEARERS MEETING HELD TODAY
Meeting of the Office Bearers of AIBEA was held today evening through
Google Talk App. All the Office Bearers were present. Our President
Com. Rajen Nagar presided over the meeting.
Condolence: The meeting conveyed its condolence over the death of
Union Minister Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Com N Sundaramurthy, President
of AILICEF and all other personalities who passed away during the recent
period.
Call for Strike on 26th November, 2020:
In terms of the decision
taken in the last Central Committee meeting of AIBEA, it was decided to
endorse the call given by National Convention of Workers and observe
strike action on 26th November, 2020.
Wage Revision: The developments relating to wage revision
negotiations with IBA was reported and the meeting noted that the
discussions are proceeding in the right direction. It was decided that all
efforts should be taken to expedite the Settlement to thwart the
increasing attempts of various inimical forces to create impediments and
to scuttle the Settlement.
Medical Insurance Scheme for Retirees:
The meeting welcomed the
improvements in the Retirees’ Group Medical Insurance Scheme like
flexible slabs of Sum Insured, multiple options to choose, reduced
premium for single insured, facility of Super Top Up, etc. The meeting
expressed the hope that these improvements will enable more number of
retirees, especially family pensioners, part time employees/substaff
retirees, to avail the medical insurance coverage.
Updation of Pension:
While due to the persistent efforts of
UFBU/AIBEA, the IBA has agreed and accordingly recommended
improvement in Family Pension (uniform rate of 30% without ceiling) and
the Government’s approval is awaited, the meeting discussed the issue of
our pending demand of updation of pension.
Since AIBEA has been the pioneer in achieving pension scheme in Banks
in 1993 and in securing further improvements including the major
achievement of one more option for more than 3 lac employees/retirees,
there is widespread expectation that AIBEA should take the initiative to
achieve the demand of pension updation.
The meeting reiterated that the demand for updation of pension is most
genuine, more especially in the case of employees/officers who had
retired under earlier Settlements in 1987, 1992, 1997, etc. and hence it
was decided to pursue the demand earnestly.
The meeting further noted that notwithstanding the fact that the demand
of pension updation is most reasonable, the issue cannot be resolved and
demand achieved without addressing the aspects like additional cost
involved, additional funding requirements, etc.
The meeting took note of the vicious propaganda on the issue and
cautioned that all these would only vitiate and create difficulties in
achieving the demand to the detriment of the retirees.
Centenary of AITUC:
The meeting was happy to note that All India
Trade Union Congress (AITUC) will complete its glorious 100 years on 31st
October, 2020. Looking to the present pandemic situation, AITUC has
decided to hold Centenary Commemorative Webinars on various
important issues and topics of relevance to the working class. AIBEA will
be hosting the Webinar on “Role of Middle class employees in working
class trade union movement”.
75th Anniversary of WFTU:
The meeting noted that World Federation
of Trade Unions (WFTU) has completed its 75th Year on 3-10-2020 and
WFTU has decided to undertake various activities to mark this important
milestone occasion. The meeting appealed to all our unions and members
