Dear Colleagues,
I have in the past informed that Union Bank of India and Canara Bank are denying /Delaying the pension option to resignees quoting policy prevalent in " Acquisition" Bank and ignoring the policy of Merged Bank.
"As per notification [ Merger Document] dated 4.3.2020 it is specifically clarified that theBoard of Transferee Bank shall ensure that “the interests of all transferring employees and officers of Transferor Bank are protected. Clause 14 and 15 further clarifies this position".
Recently High Court of Bombay - Nagpur Bench in the matter of Pankaj S Nikhar VsUnion of India [ Canara Bank] in WP /8383/2023 on 26th March 2025 directed CanaraBank to provide the compassionate appointment to Pankaj within 8 weeks from the date of order relying on clause 14 & 15 of the Merger Document.
Full copy of the Order is attached herewith for your reference & i am sure this will be of much help to resignees of Syndicate Bank & Andhra Bank wherein Canara Bank &Union Bank have denied pension option.
Thanks & Regards
