Dear Shri Prasad ji,

In one of your recent letters to Sri Somashekar, you had mentioned as follows:

Quote:

We shall not blame AIBPARC if Regulation 35(1) does not provide for updation. But, having claimed updation on account of Regulation 35(1), can you provide or ascertain and provide what is the increase if Pension is updated in terms of Regulation 35(1) for a Basic Pension of Rs.7,500/- if the date of retirement is 31.03.2002? Or any leader of AIBPARC can answer?"

Unquote:

My response to your query is as follows:

The formula in Appendix-1 was devised to be applicable only to the 4th BPS group and that too for bringing them to the 5th BPS level.
Hence, the same parameters cannot be applied either to take them further upwards or in respect of a person who retired on 31/3/2002 (under 7th BPS). The parameters of the formula have to be suitably modified to suit each group on different occasions. It is for the IBA to devise such formulas as they did it earlier.

In the meanwhile, I am still searching for the answer to my doubt viz., how a simple merger of DA with basic pay (without any loading)contained in Appendix-1 formula could result in increases of ₹226 in November 1995 and ₹2202 in February 2026 for the given case of a 4th BPS retiree with a Basic Pension of ₹830 that was increased to ₹1383 by applying the Appendix 1 formula.
It is also worth mentioning here that the present increase of ₹2206 is the effect of updating the pension to just one level above (4th BPS to 5th BPS).
I don't know if my calculations are wrong and have been waiting for more than a month to contradict.
