Is it a crime if benefits of welfare schemes are extended to all the retirees particularly when the schemes expenses are met from the Banks Staff Welfare Funds? Banks have liberty to grant such expenses to all the employees and also to all segment of retirees. Certainly the eAllahabad Bank & Indian Bank Managements deserve praise and a lesson for other Banks management who are still shaky and did not grant the facilities to their SVRS 2000 employees.

Are the welfare schemes of indian schemes allowed to retired employees of Allahabad bank? If not, how this can be justified, since existing employees of Indian Bank and Allahabad Bank equally enjoy all the staff benefits without any discrimination.

I am happy to inform that at least this year (2022) Indian Bank is permitting medical aid out of Welfare fund for VR Staff also.

Indian bank has issued circular on 3rd February 2022.

I have submitted the  following representation to Indian Bank HRM and CMD

I have taken Voluntary Retirement from the Bank in the year 2001 under special VRS 2001. I regret to state that Retirees of VRS 2001 are excluded from the purview of different welfare schemes of the bank for the reason best known to the bank.

We (VRs) too had worked for the bank and contributed immensely during our service years and whatever balance is available in the Welfare fund contains our sweet labour also.

After all, the VRS of 2001 was the effort of the bank and we had opted for it after so many years of service and this should not be treated as a crime. While the V R scheme was launched, nowhere it was mentioned that we will not be eligible for different welfare schemes of the bank.

There are other government banks, who are not making any such distinction between Retirees under VRS and Retirees under Superannuation.

You may please refer to CANARA BANK HUMAN RESOURCES WING INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS SECTION: MEMO NO. : 3/2021 D A T E: 13.01.2021, which reads as follows:

“10. REIMBURSEMENT OF EITHER MEDICAL EXPENSES OR EXPENSES INCURRED TOWARDS PAYMENT OF PREMIUM TOWARDS MEDICLAIM POLICY INCURRED BY RETIRED EMPLOYEES: i) All the retired employees who have retired from the services of the Bank on or before 31.03.2020 on superannuation/VRS/SVRS 2001 shall be eligible for the benefit under the scheme.”

I request you to make a similar provision in the welfare scheme of Indian Bank also and help the senior citizens who had opted for VRS 2001. This will go a long way in mitigating their hardship in their sunset years.

I request you to let me have your response at the earliest.

Thanks/Regards.

I request all other voluntarily retirees (2001)of Indian Bank to submit similar email.

Please request all your other friends (similarly placed) also to submit similar email.

Other VR persons (after 2001) may modify the petition suitably and submit.

Regards.

Canara Bank first extended this benefit to VR staff. Quoting this I appealed to Indian Bank.

Welfare fund is created out of profits every year and during our service all staff including the Voluntarily retired staff  had also contributed for generation of profits.  The bank should not have debarred VR Staff for benefits from Welfare fund.

If there is such discrimination in other banks, at least now they must take up by quoting Canara Bank and Indian Bank.
