AICPIN(IW)2016=100 FOR FEB'24 & MARCH'24 NOT RELEASED BY GOI.

Dear Friends,

As you may be aware All India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Industrial Workers base year 2016=100 for the month of Feb'24 was not released in March'24 as scheduled by Labour Bureau, Ministry of Labour and Employment till this time.

Reason for the delay or departure from prevailing system is also not made known by GOI.

AICPIN for March'24 is also not found released to day as per normal process.

Bank pensioners/employees DR/DA are arrived based on quarterly average index numbers of relevant quarter.

This is first time in the history the index numbers are withheld by labour bureau for two months!

Needless to add that,naturally DA to employees may be delayed if the figures are not released on time.

For withholding the CPI-IW for Feb 2024 and March 2024, the Intention of the government is causing suspicion in our minds !

Dear Friends,

Dearness Allowance for workmen and officer employees in banks for the months of May,June & July'24 under 12th BPS/9th Joint Note has to be paid based on confirmed All India average Consumer Price Index numbers for industrial workers base year 2016=100 for Jan,Feb & March'24.

To our surprise we observed that AICPIN(IW) for Feb & March '24 was not released by Labour Bureau ,GOI on scheduled dates.As such DA payable to employees for current quarter could not be arrived till this moment.

Though bank pensioners  DR is arrived at a later date based on index numbers for April,May &June'24 we may know the exact position only in July'24.

Even in the absence of updation of pension,  the marginal increase in DR  once in every half year was said to be a relief to pensioners.

Withholding the index numbers by GOI without assigning any reason,   may delay (or deny?)the payment of DA/DR which cannot be treated as a fair affair.

Hope GOI may not proceed with such injustice in coming months affecting all employees/ pensioners.

Dearness Relief to pensioners who retired on or after 1st day of November, 2002 ie: under 8th BPS,is as follows:

Rate of dearness relief on pension for the months February 2024 to July 2024

307.62 % of basic pension

It is a regular feature of the system. It has nothing to do with model code of conduct. Were they not declaring CPI-IW during earlier elections ? I have CPI-IW of all the twelve months of the year 2019.
