The Group Medical Insurance Policies for the serving employees and retirees are due for renewal on 01.10.2023 and 01.11.2023 respectively.

SUB : SEEKING SUGGESTIONS ON GMIS BY IBA FROM UNIONS

I suggest as follows and request to back forward to reach the origins i.e IBA and respondents i.e UFBU constituents :

1. There should be one policy covering both working and retired employees.

2. The terms and conditions should be the same for both working and retired. The policy should cover dependent parents and children even for the retirees.

3. Premium should be born by the bank for retirees as well.

4. Improvements should cover purchase of medicines for diabetes, bp, heart problems etc as covered for working employees.

5. Differential amounts of claim should be settled from the pool / corpus as being done for retired employees.

6. Retiree associations / unions should be made parties to any agreements / settlements pertaining to retirees.

If iba is sincere to retirees,they must offer free medical facilities .If not possible,a sum equal to  basic pension of a month may be collected from retirees every year.
