The Supreme Court Weekly Cause List for the week of April 27, 2026, has been published.

M.C. Singla vs. Union of India: Hearing Details

  • Confirmed Date: Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
  • Court & Item Number: Listed as Item No. 101 (the first matter on the Regular List) in Court No. 2.
  • The Bench: To be heard by Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta, the same bench currently handling the "part-heard" pension data.

Why This Listing is Crucial

  1. Top Priority: Being listed as Item 101 at 10:30 AM significantly increases the probability of the case being heard immediately at the start of the session, rather than being "passed over" due to a heavy miscellaneous backlog.
  2. Final Disposal: Some sources say the matter is listed for "Final Disposal," signalling the Court's intention to conclude the decade-old case.
  3. End of Adjournment Culture: Recent updates suggest the Court has taken a strict stance against further delays, especially as the case involves the rights of senior citizens.

Key Issues on the Table

  • Regulation 35(1): Whether pension updation is a mandatory statutory requirement similar to the RBI and Central Government patterns.
  • Financial Scrutiny: The Court is reviewing the comparative pension charts (Pre-1987, 1987–2003, and Post-2003) provided by the petitioners to counter the IBA’s claims of excessive financial burden.
  • Fund Theory: The "Fund Theory" (availability of ₹4.27 lakh crore) remains a major point of contention to be finally addressed.

Dear friends,

I am extremely happy that, in all likelihood, the arguments in Singla’s case are nearing conclusion. If so, the truth will emerge, the Court will settle the legal position, and bank pensioners will clearly understand where they stand. It will be a moment of clarity for all of us.

We will also come to know whether what has been conveyed to us so far is accurate or not. The Hon’ble Supreme Court’s decision will help us distinguish between relying on who said something and understanding what was actually said. It will show whether the interpretations and claims surrounding Singla’s case were correct or whether we were misled.

Equally, this is a time for reflection—on whom we place our trust, and whether that trust has been justified. The outcome will help us reassess our views, if necessary. Ultimately, it will become clearer who truly stood by us.

I am eagerly awaiting the conclusion. Let it bring clarity to our thoughts and conviction to our minds.

Before I close, a reminder: courts are guided not by emotion, but by reason.Top of Form

Thanks, a Million.

With regards,

Prasad C N

It's good in a way as it enlightens the lay pensioners .

Nobody can predict court verdicts. The fact that the M C singla vase will be concluded  after 10 years is a big relief for pensioners. If the verdict is positive it is good for senior pensioners. If we lose the case it is no longer sub judice and IBA and UFBU can start discussions on minutes of 08.03.2024  and resolve the issue.
Since 13th BPS is likely to be completed within 12 months, pensioners issues may also my be discussed.

Courts are guided by brain with constitutional fundamental rights gaurenteed under article 14 and 21 and not by orbitary decision of the state.
The judges have both brain to understand the provisions of pension regulations and heart to go beyond the narrow understanding of the same by lower courts and equally misunderstood by the learned.
We r confident that we get favourable verdict from the Supreme court judges who apply both logic and law and justice based on the principles of jurisprudence and equity and fair play under article 14 and 21.
We have no bias against any organisation or individual.
Afterall we are looking at Supreme court judges for justice which is denied to all Pensioners.
Hold your breath and respect the outcome.
No personal prejudice against any organisation/association or individual.
