All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers for February & March have not so far been released by Labour bureau. Com CHV had taken up this matter personally twice, that is on 7/5 &15/5 but it is yet to be posted. If the index is withheld due to General election, the government could have replied so.But,the authorities replied that it will be posted within a week. Why there is lack of transparency in this issue? The release of index was never withheld during earlier General elections.Already there are lot of complaints about the compilation of this index (AICPI-IW)which has direct implications in DA increase for working & retired staff. This is adding fuel to the fire.Hope an end is put to this issue soon.Thank you.

I do not expect index to be released by 1st June also. Government must be having some hidden agenda !

The discussion is not leading us anywhere. Anyways they have to declare the index on some day. May be the delay is due to recasting of the points. The govt is not going to gain anything by delaying the announcement and casting aspersion on the govt is unnecessary.

I have no hesitation in acknowledging/emphasising that it is this government that has done quite a few good things to the bank pensioners for the first time in the past 25+ years i.e.,since the introduction of pension scheme. Notable among these are the sanctioning of 100% DA to pre 2002 retirees (ending their sufferings from tapered DA for 18 years losing a few lakhs in the process), increase in family pension and ex-gratia (though it is below our expectations). Of course, UFBU played its role well, after knowing that the government was favourably inclined to redress the grievances of pensioners.

As regards the unusual and inordinate delay in release of AICPI figures, we may wait for some more time rather than jumping to any conclusion. After all, even if the figures are released in the first week of June, it is not going to result in any monetary loss to the employees.
And, as for pensioners this delay has no
effect as their DA revision is only due in August next.

I think the whole debate is unnecessary. 100% DA was delayed for 18 years.  1616-1684 issue was resolved after 18 years. Updation is pending for the last 20 years.
So why this must be a big issue if notification of the DA index is delayed by one or two months during the election period when govt staff are  busy with election duties.
