Dear Mr Krishnan,
In addition to what was brought to your kind attention in my last mail to you, I should feel greatly honoured if you focussed on a couple of other aspects as well that can be taken up with the Chairman of LIC, please :
Why, oh why, should we demand that pension for a month should be paid on the 1st of the NEXT month? We should demand that PENSION --- which is treated as salary for all purposes --- should be paid on the same day salary is paid to serving personnel. The chances of a pensioner going to meet his Maker after such drawal of pension are there but what is a few Rupees of a negligible percentage of pensioners under this head to LIC? A mere pittance. A paltry sum for such a financial giant. A measly amount for India's premier public sector institution which it can more than very well forgo like crumbs falling from the mouth of an elephant feeding.
Dearness Relief is now paid to / deducted from pension, as the case may be, at 6-monthly intervals while for serving personnel it is at 3-monthly intervals. Pensioners should be treated on par with serving personnel here also, for a Rupee now is not worth that much six months hence.
Thanks for your time and patience.
Have a nice day.
Regards.
P. Ramanathan.
