Dear Friends,

While It is true that instead of going to Court Of Law to redress the grievances of Bank retirees, better to settle the issues by negotiations between the Unions and IBA (Bank Management).  However, whether you are aware that Syndicate Bank Officers Association itself filed the case Against the Management of Syndicate Bank/IBA at H’ble Karnataka High Court regarding the misinterpretation of word “Retirees”  by  IBA while issuing the guidance to the Banks and denied the II option to Pension to retirees other than on superannuation. Why?

Dear Friends,
It is matter of satisfaction that some of our friends who were vociferous about pursuing these demands through courts by filing the cases, have now come to understand that legal process may not  show us the light of the day during most of ours life time.
I fully concur with Mr. G.K. Khurana's  latest views on the blog. I have been stressing the need for  this phenomena  from the very beginning.
Only where the banks have not extended the notional benefit of 5 years,  the court orders are required. For other issues, the present day leadership is the best answer and they can forcefully take up these issues with the IBA/Govt. And of course, these issues must be made a part of the Charter of Demands. Our retired union should bring forth these issues to the  UFBU etc.  I feel there will be results sooner or later.

Regards.

Dear Friends,

Let us all unitedly pursue our UFBU leaders to fight for this important Agenda too.It is a fact that we are retired now and do not have any direct say or representation in any of the constituents  of UFBU  but we can always request the present leadership to take up the issues of retirees too with all seriousness as they pursue for the serving employees.Being our brethren we may always convince them that issues which are confronting us today may also haunt them too as

and when they get retired. Shall they not wish to have updation of Pension after their own retirement on the pattern of Central Govt. employees or medical facility or for that reason any other benefit they deemed fit. Let us all  make our representative bodies ie AIBRF &UFBRO strong enough to be heard by the UFBU leaders.  The burning issues as on date concerning retirees are 100% DA neutralisation, updation of pension, 5 yrs weightage for SVRS optees, allowing 2nd option of pension to VRS optees under OSR, etc. On these issues many of our retired colleageues have gone to various High Courts across the country but as we all know it is such a time consuming process that  we  hardly can afford as most of us are already nearing 70 & may not see the Judgements during our lifetimes. So,in my opinion approaching UFBU for our cause shall be more appropriate. Of course for meeting demands of the retirees the serving lot shall have to make a bit of sacrifice by way of a minute cut in their proposed hike in the next settlement. But that is the way of life - we too, while in service, had sacrificed for the benefit of our predecessors ,though a pinch in every settlement we witnessed  during our service period. On an average we all must have seen 5-6 settlements during our Bank service. Is it not enough reason for UFBU leaders to convince the present work force to  make a  bit of sacrifice now for us. Let us strive hard now in unison and get our demands included in the Charter of Demands to be submitted by UFBU to IBA/Govt.for the next settlement.Hopefully,

we shall succeed this way in our endeavour.

With regards,

G K Khurana
