Opting for Mediclaim Policy Scheme depends upon individual family circumstances, financial position etc. No retiree must take others advise and take his own decision. Remember it is ONE TIME OPTION. So history should not repeat like Pension option. If you miss the bus to day tomorrow nobody will fight for you to get another option.

Providing medical facilities is the social obligation of employer.Central Govt and all State Govts provide this benefit. LIC has already provided this benefit. Many Private and IT companies have included this benefit in Pay package although amounts may wary.

Further in Banking Industry for retirees it is not free and premium has to be paid by retirees.

So UFBU must stop boasting this as great achievement.

Dear friends

I have some doubts  on the medical insurance scheme

1. Whether the premium paid under the scheme is exempted under I T as we may not get any receipt from insurance co as it is a group insurance scheme.
2. Can we have separate polices along with bank scheme.

Please through some light on the said issues

a) the claim document should submit to the bank and is that for reimbursement 

b) is there any any option for cashless or it will be totally reimbursement basis.

Dear Friends,

       There is no cheer for retirees since the entire cost of premium is to be borne by them. Secondly, there is no clarity as to the coverage (whether it is for the whole family including dependent children and dependent parents). Bank has separate policy for customers called Baroda Mediclaim Policy. The circular is not specific whether portability will be allowed for those ex-employees who have taken such policies. I request members who have any information on the above matter can share through this blog.
