Dear Friends,

Greetings of the day !!

Wishing you the very best for today.

Our 'Thought for Today' is a beautiful poem by Edgar Guest titled 'The Things That Haven't Been Done Before' .

Most of us end up travelling the 'beaten path' though we have dreams, some of which could be 'path breaking'. We end up taming our 'wild path breaking dreams' thinking that they may not fit in with the times or may not gain acceptance of others. We thus give them up totally only to find later that those very dreams that we nurtured but didn't grow have been realized successfully by someone else.

Life gives us opportunities, but we do have to take some calculated risks to make the best of our dreams.

The things that haven't been done before,
Those are the things to try;
Columbus dreamed of an unknown shore
At the rim of the far-flung sky,
And his heart was bold and his faith was strong
As he ventured in dangers new,
And he paid no heed to the jeering throng
Or the fears of the doubting crew.

The many will follow the beaten track
With guideposts on the way.
They live and have lived for ages back
With a chart for every day.
Someone has told them it's safe to go
On the road he has traveled o'er,
And all that they ever strive to know
Are the things that were known before.

A few strike out without map or chart,
Where never a man has been,
From the beaten path they draw apart
To see what no man has seen.
There are deeds they hunger alone to do;
Though battered and bruised and sore,
They blaze the path for the many, who
Do nothing not done before.

The things that haven't been done before
Are the tasks worthwhile today;
Are you one of the flock that follows, or
Are you one that shall lead the way?
Are you one of the timid souls that quail
At the jeers of a doubting crew,
Or dare you, whether you win or fail,
Strike out for a goal that's new?

Trust you found the poem to be inspirational.

Have a great day and a wonderful week-end.

I will be back on Monday.

Cheers !!!!

Warm regards.

Dear Friends,

Greetings of the day.

We normally offer advice to others others to knock the 'If's and but's' from one's Life, as they merely are excuses for not doing things. I absoultely agree to this, but there are quite a few occassions when 'If only I/you can ....."  attitude in a positive context helps us tide over our problems and difficulties.

And what a better way to bring out the above then by penning a Rudyard Kipling poem titled 'IF' .

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you
are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
but make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
or being hated, don't give way to hating,
and yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream-and not make dreams your master,
if you can think-and not make thoughts your aim;
if you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
and treat those two impostors just the same;
if you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
and stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
and risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
and lose, and start again at your beginnings
and never breathe a word about your loss;
if you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
to serve your turn long after they are gone,
and so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
or walk with kings-nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
if all men count with you, but none too much,
if you can fill the unforgiving minute
with sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And-which is more-you'll be a Man, my son!

Trust you found it interesting.

Have a great day.

Thanks and warm regards.

Dear Friends,

Greetings of the day.

Trust you had a great week and are looking forward to enjoying your well deserved week-end.

I have often heard people talking about 'bad luck' when things don't go their way. There is also a subtle reference made to others whom they feel are fortunate for having got all that they desired in life without much struggle.

'Why is it that I had to put up a fight and did not get what I think I deserved'? whereas 'Someone else just glided through it and saw it through'. We call it 'Luck'.

I have tried to raise a question here on the 'Luck' aspect of Life. There are no straight forward answers to this, becuase I feel it is more of a perspective and belief.

Our 'Thought for Today' throws light on the above. It is a brilliant poem by Edgar Guest.

The Other Fellow

Whose luck is better far than ours?
The other fellow's.
Whose road seems always lined with flowers?
The other fellow's.

Who is the man who seems to get
Most joy in life, with least regret,
Who always seems to win his bet?
The other fellow.

Who fills the place we think we'd like?
The other fellow.
Whom does good fortune always strike?
The other fellow.

Whom do we envy, day by day?
Who has more time than we to play?
Who is it, when we mourn, seems gay?
The other fellow.

Who seems to miss the thorns we find?
The other fellow.
Who seems to leave us all behind?
The other fellow.

Who never seems to feel the woe,
The anguish and the pain we know?
Who gets the best seats at the show?
The other fellow.

And yet, my friend, who envies you?
The other fellow.
Who thinks he gathers only rue?
The other fellow.

Who sighs because he thinks that he
Would infinitely happier be,
If he could be like you or me?
The other fellow.

Trust you appreciated the underlying message in the above poem.

Have a great week-end.

See you on Monday.

Thanks and warm regards.
