Hi Travel Addicts,

Have been working on this.

Itinerary by Poornima of Travel Bazaar appears better.

Total number of days will have to be about 20, as there is a lot to see, and we will surely not go to this region again. Considering the cost, very far, we should plan for 20 days.

I found August the best month weather wise.

Some of us planning on hiking in Machu Pichu. This will be 4/5 days. Hiking will add 2/3 days to the program. We will begin the tour with this, and those who are not hiking will meet up after Machu Pichu.

I am considering minimum days in big cities such as Rio, and most of the time in nature.

Prakash, please change name of group without name of a destination, and add those left out. I think NSC, Raghu/Nalini, and Giridhar/Nalini are not in.

Hi Guys,

I am attaching a couple of alternatives.

I am considering including

1. Machu Pichu region, those who want to trek, can do so. Others will still have a lot to do.

2, Amazon, this can be done two ways, either a cruise, we stay on a boat/ship ( may be better, but expensive, 3500 $ for just this), or land based and then visit places on amazon.  I will get more info on both options. We should do which ever is better irrespective of cost.

3. Galapagos , again we can do this as a cruise, staying on ship, (much more expensive) or stay on land and do boat day trips. Something like what we did in Alaska.  Day trips will most likely be on boats with just us.

4. Paraca, a desert like area with good beaches.

All the above are in Peru and Galapagos is off Equador, close to Peru.

I have planned not to include:

1. Iguazu falls, will be great, (Sandhya has already sent a video) as this is in Argentina and Brazil, will need more days. Most of us would have seen Niagara, Victoria falls. Galapagos appears more exciting.

2. Glaciers in southern Argentina. This was in another itinerary. Again very far from Peru, and as some us have seen many glaciers, Galapagos it should be.

Travel Loka ( Poornima and Sahadev) will organise a skype presentation and discussion with the operators in South America, once we have shortlisted some options.

We will have to book early, as Amazon cruise has few operators, and bookings have to be made atleast  months prior. So also Machu Pichu.

Trip is going to be expensive, I think more than Alaska, as it is much longer and far.

Should have more info once we shortlist options.
